Chapter 326 Reason Enough?

Chapter 326

The situation was bad, so Nathan couldn’t possibly say no. He nodded without missing

a beat. “We can.”

“Good. You and Nicole keep an eye on her. I’ll take you to the hospital right now.’

“Okay.”

Alaric turned his attention to the unconscious Victoria. The blood on her forehead

looked even more grisly, with her pale face as the backdrop. He slowly placed her down

and adjusted her position. Then, he told the kids to sit by her side and hold her up in

case she fell on the way to the hospital. Once he was done, he got out of the car and

went to the driver’s seat.

When the door was closed, Nathan wiped his tears away and secured his mother’s

head with his hands. He whispered, “Don’t worry, Mommy. You’ll be fine.”

Nicole was crying as well, and her eyes filled with tears. They streamed down her

cheeks and fell onto the back of Victoria’s feet.

“Don’t cry, Nicole,” Nathan said.

The little girl looked at her brother, tears blurring her vision. “Will Mommy die, Nathan?”

The mention of death shocked the boy, and he shot her a sharp look. “Don’t say

anything like that, Nicole!”

Shocked, she sobbed, “But-”

“She’s only hurt in the forehead. She won’t die.”

Alaric kept driving through the streets. He was driving fast, but he was being careful,

too. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the kids huddled close to their mother, and

their conversation broke his heart. He frowned and solemnly said, “Nicole, Nathan, I

won’t let anything happen to your mother. Trust me.” The last part was especially hard

for him to say it.

Nathan said nothing. He merely stared at his mother’s wound, feeling upset. As for

Nicole, she angrily blurted out, “I hate you, Mr. Night.”

The man froze for a moment before smiling bitterly. “Very well. But first, let’s get to the

hospital.” Nicole’s mother was hurt, so it was no surprise she would hate him. Victoria

was right there, yet he failed to protect her, and his daughter almost got hurt as well. He

felt guilty for letting things turn out like this, but feeling guilty was useless in the current

situation. Thus, he quickly focused on the road.

Unfortunately, they were a bit far from the nearest hospital; it would take more than half

an hour before they could arrive at their destination. Alaric was panicking, and he ran

through two red lights on his way. Before long, the cops came after him. Once they

made him pull over, he felt like slamming his fist on the steering wheel. However,

Victoria was still hurt, and getting into a fight was just a waste of time.

He rolled the car window down and said, “Sorry, but my wife’s hurt. She’s unconscious,

and I need help.”

Since he ran through red lights and sped through the street, the cops came after him.

They thought the driver was some sort of punk, so Alaric’s explanation came as a

surprise. The cops looked at the back seat and saw a woman there. Her forehead was

bleeding, and she was unconscious. There were also two crying children there, too.

Realizing the severity of the situation, the cops solemnly said, “Come with us.” They

helped Alaric clear the path and contacted the nearest hospital. Thanks to their help,

Alaric came to the hospital sooner.

He took Victoria out of the car and rushed into the hospital, and the kids followed.

Some twists and turns later, Victoria was taken into the emergency room.

They couldn’t go into the emergency room, so Alaric and the kids waited outside. There

was no one around, so the man pulled the kids down to sit with him. “It’s going to be a

while, so we’ll wait right here.”

Nathan had always been sensible. He didn’t go against Alaric’s words and merely

stayed silent, but he didn’t sit beside Alaric either. Instead, the boy put some distance

between them. Alaric knew what he was trying to do, but since the boy was near

enough for him to watch over, he said nothing.

On the other hand, Nicole came over to him. At first, he was surprised. He thought the

girl had forgiven him, but then she started thumping her fists against his legs. “I hate
