As if he hadn’t expected her to be in so much pain, Bane immediately held onto her and 

said urgently, “Okay, don’t try to remember if you can’t. Don’t think about it anymore. 

We’ll do the tests first and see what the doctors say.” 

Lying in his embrace, Victoria had turned as white as a sheet from agony. By the time 

he finished speaking, she had already lost all the strength in her body, beads of cold 

sweat rolling down her pale forehead. 

“Tissue.” 

A person next to him immediately pulled out a tissue and handed it to him, which he 

used to wipe Victoria’s forehead. All the blood had left her lips from the pain, making 

her seem extremely weak and feeble as she lay in his arms. 

The sight greatly pained Bane, and the more his heart ached, the more his emotions 

worsened. He asked one of his subordinates coldly, “Is it our turn for the checkup yet? 

Can’t we use the ER?”

The procedures in hospitals were always cumbersome, but fortunately for them, they

the tests. In the end, Bane decided to book a VIP ward for Victoria to stay in. 

After the examinations were complete, Victoria was completely spent and fell asleep 

on the bed. Bane quietly covered her with a blanket, then remained by her side to keep 

watch. 

When Leon entered the ward to make a delivery, Bane glanced at him and asked in a 

low voice, “When will the results come out?” 

“We’ve already told them to hurry, but we don’t know how long we have to wait.” 

This outcome clearly displeased Bane, but he was most likely worried that talking 

would disrupt Victoria’s rest and ultimately did not reply, silently remaining by her side. 

As Leon watched them, he only felt conflicted. Before Victoria had arrived, he assumed

how Bane treated her, and how protective he was of her. This wasn’t just something a

Thinking that, Leon said, “In that case, rest well, Mr. Morison. I shall take my leave.” 

Bane nodded in reply. 

Before leaving the ward, Leon suddenly turned around and returned as if recalling 

something. “Mr. Morison, you haven’t eaten dinner yet, right? Do you…” 

“No.” 

Without waiting for him to finish, Bane coldly rejected his offer. How would he be in the 

mood to eat at a time like this? 

Hearing that, Leon fell silent and left the room. 

After the crowd left, leaving only the two of them in the ward, Bane gazed at Victoria as 

she slumbered. She was quiet, meek, and beautiful–just like a delicate doll on display. 

Back when he first met her as a child, he had already felt this way. Then, he began to 

think of ways to make her his possession. Finally, after all his efforts, he finally saw a 

ray of hope, but everything changed as soon as she returned from abroad–she wanted
