Chapter 456
Victoria reflexively reached out to clutch her head in pain.

As if he hadn’t expected her to be in so much pain, Bane immediately held onto her and
said urgently, “Okay, don’t try to remember if you can’t. Don’t think about it anymore.
We’ll do the tests first and see what the doctors say.”
Lying in his embrace, Victoria had turned as white as a sheet from agony. By the time
he finished speaking, she had already lost all the strength in her body, beads of cold
sweat rolling down her pale forehead.
“Tissue.”
A person next to him immediately pulled out a tissue and handed it to him, which he
used to wipe Victoria’s forehead. All the blood had left her lips from the pain, making
her seem extremely weak and feeble as she lay in his arms.
The sight greatly pained Bane, and the more his heart ached, the more his emotions
worsened. He asked one of his subordinates coldly, “Is it our turn for the checkup yet?
Can’t we use the ER?”
As soon as his words fell, a staff member dashed over and said, “We got in, Mr.
Morison. Let’s go.”

Hearing that, Bane picked up the woman in his arms and left with them.

There were quite a number of examinations to be done, most of them focusing on
Victoria’s head. At first, the tests were conducted only to determine if there were any
injuries in her skull, but when they discovered that she had completely lost her memory
after waking up, they relayed this information to the doctors, who arranged for other
tests to be held.
The procedures in hospitals were always cumbersome, but fortunately for them, they
were given top priority. Even so, it was many hours later when they finally finished all
the tests. In the end, Bane decided to book a VIP ward for Victoria to stay in.
After the examinations were complete, Victoria was completely spent and fell asleep
on the bed. Bane quietly covered her with a blanket, then remained by her side to keep
watch.
When Leon entered the ward to make a delivery, Bane glanced at him and asked in a
low voice, “When will the results come out?”
“We’ve already told them to hurry, but we don’t know how long we have to wait.”
This outcome clearly displeased Bane, but he was most likely worried that talking
would disrupt Victoria’s rest and ultimately did not reply, silently remaining by her side.
As Leon watched them, he only felt conflicted. Before Victoria had arrived, he assumed

that she was only one of Bane’s whims and did not treat her with respect, if not cold
and dismissive. However, throughout their journey to the hospital, he could plainly see
how Bane treated her, and how protective he was of her. This wasn’t just something a
person would do on a whim.
Thinking that, Leon said, “In that case, rest well, Mr. Morison. I shall take my leave.”
Bane nodded in reply.
Before leaving the ward, Leon suddenly turned around and returned as if recalling
something. “Mr. Morison, you haven’t eaten dinner yet, right? Do you…”
“No.”
Without waiting for him to finish, Bane coldly rejected his offer. How would he be in the
mood to eat at a time like this?
Hearing that, Leon fell silent and left the room.
After the crowd left, leaving only the two of them in the ward, Bane gazed at Victoria as
she slumbered. She was quiet, meek, and beautiful–just like a delicate doll on display.
Back when he first met her as a child, he had already felt this way. Then, he began to
think of ways to make her his possession. Finally, after all his efforts, he finally saw a
ray of hope, but everything changed as soon as she returned from abroad–she wanted

to be friends with him.
Friends? How was that acceptable? She was the woman he fell in love with at first
sight, so how could he be satisfied with just being friends? Without a doubt, he only
wanted to keep her by his side, and he refused to stop liking her. Even if she didn’t have
any feelings for him, she couldn’t fall for anyone else either–this was how Bane felt in
the darkest depths of his heart.
Such thoughts already existed back when he was putting his all into pursuing her. At
the time, Victoria did not reject his advances, so he naturally respected her wishes and
did not do anything she disliked. And yet…
At that thought, Bane was filled with regret. If he had known the outcome, he wouldn’t
have allowed her to return to the country.
However, now that Victoria had suddenly lost her memory and forgotten everything, it
worked out in his favor. After all, as she did not remember anything, it was the perfect
opportunity for him to swoop in and seize her for himself.
He didn’t care about seizing any opportunities or whether he was taking advantage of
her; he just wanted her. As long as she obediently remained by his side like this,
everything would be perfect.
In the end, Bane quickly drifted off to sleep by Victoria’s bed.

When Leon entered the room to check on the situation and found Bane leaning by
Victoria’s bed, he sneakily retrieved a blanket to drape around Bane. However, as soon
as the blanket touched his body, Bane was roused from his sleep and frowned, leaving
Leon with no choice but to quietly explain his intentions.
Seeing that Leon had no ill motives, Bane did not berate him and only instructed him to
stay out of the room so that he would not wake Victoria up. After acknowledging his
orders, Leon left and no longer returned to the ward.
Just like that, the rest of the night trickled past. When the results were released the
next day, Bane was summoned by the doctor, who informed him that there was
something abnormal about Victoria’s test report.
“Abnormal?” Bane furrowed his brow. “What do you mean by that? Are there any major
risks?”
Upon seeing him visibly turning worried, the doctor assured him, “Mr. Morison, you
need not be so worried. Although her results are a little abnormal, it doesn’t pose any
serious risks to her life, but…”
“But what?”
