Chapter 466
Though Ethan did not anticipate that Bane would call him to return, he knew that
Bane’s decision to use him again meant that Bane had retracted his words.
After learning what was happening with Victoria, Ethan became very concerned.
However, he knew he was no longer needed by Bane, and despite his worries, he was
temporarily out of options. Nonetheless, he didn’t give up, and for the past few days, he’d been trying to plan how to help her. Surprisingly, Bane contacted him and asked
him to stay by her side to protect her.
“Since she has lost her memory, you must remain by her side and protect her. You
should know what to do, right?” Bane instructed.
After hearing this, Ethan stared at him blankly. “Miss Selwyn has already lost her
memory. Mr. Morison, are you still not planning to stop?”
Bane’s eyebrows arched in response to these words. “I asked you to come here to
protect her.”
“I can protect her, but I can’t watch over her 24 hours a day. Can you guarantee that
nothing will happen to her during the other times when I’m not around?”
“Do what you’re supposed to do.”

“Mr. Morison, based on how well you treated Miss Selwyn before, along with her
temperament and personality, if you stop now, I believe she will reconcile with you even
if she regains her memory.”
Although it had come to this point, Ethan continued to persuade Bane to change his
mind. Unfortunately, Bane was deaf to everything Ethan had to say, and instead, he
chuckled coldly, reminded Ethan of his task, and walked away.
Then, Ethan stood there, watching Bane’s retreating figure, and sighed deeply in his
heart. Is it really impossible to change the situation? As far as I can tell, Mr. Morison
genuinely cares about Miss Selwyn and fears any harm that may befall her, but he is
also committing irreparable acts. Nevertheless, the most crucial question is… Is it true
that she has lost her memory?
After Victoria chose the girl who looked like her, she conversed with her. The girl’s
name was Jessie Santos, and she was several years younger than Victoria. She came
to work here because the wages were higher, so she decided to come.
When Jessie spoke to Victoria, she smiled shyly, and her fair cheeks had a hint of pink.
It made her seem innocent and easily deceived.
If I bring her out, I’m sure I can find a chance to do what I want. Victoria calculated in
her mind as she casually conversed with Jessie. “Where did you live back home?”

“Miss Selwyn, my hometown is in Gandra, and I used to attend school there.”
“Really?”
After hearing this, Victoria smiled faintly. “What a coincidence. I’m also from Gandra.”
Jessie was surprised to hear that and asked, “Miss Selwyn, you used to live in Gandra
too? Which part of Gandra are you from?”
“I’m from-” Victoria intended to answer, but when it came to the location’s name, she
couldn’t recall it. However, she remembered that she used to be from Gandra and even
blurted it out unthinkingly earlier. Even though she had lost all of her memory, it
appeared that certain habits and preferences were deeply ingrained within her and
would never change.
After observing that she did not respond, Jessie asked again, “Is something wrong,
Miss Selwyn?”
When Victoria heard this, she snapped out of her thoughts and gently shook her head.
“Nothing.”
Eventually, Jessie stopped talking after noticing that Victoria’s enthusiasm was waning.
After all, she had overheard the servants discussing how Victoria might be difficult to
get along with and how everyone should be on their guard. However, Jessie’s
perception differed from that of others. She had been employed there for some time,

and if questioned about the most frightening individuals, she would say Bane. Besides,
she knew the woman who could make him humble could not be ordinary. After talking
to Victoria, Jessie realized that Victoria was much nicer than she had expected.
Nevertheless, she still felt uneasy due to the rumors she had heard.
“It’s nothing. I was just thinking about where to go in the afternoon. Are you familiar
with the area around here?”
Jessie nodded and replied, “Yes, I’m familiar. I’ve been living around here for a long
time. Miss Selwyn, wherever you want to go, I’ll accompany you.”
“Thank you. Let’s go out later.”
Afterward, Jessie went to pack her belongings, whereas Victoria only took her phone.
As Victoria was getting ready to leave, Jessie assisted her in donning a coat and gloves
and even prepared a hat and mask for her.
“I checked the weather forecast for today. Although it’s sunny, based on my experience
living here, it’s likely to snow unexpectedly. So, it’s better to be fully prepared and not
get too cold, Miss Selwyn.”
Victoria sat there, allowing Jessie to put on her hat and gloves, and finally, Jessie tied a
scarf around her.
Then, Victoria glanced in the mirror and realized she looked like a snowman. “Thank
you.”
After Bane heard about Jessie’s conduct, he was very satisfied. Even though he had
