Chapter 108
Anna’s POV:
The conference room erupted in applause as I concluded my presentation on the coral reef protection project. Everyone was nodding with approval – the quarterly report had exceeded expectations. I couldn’t help but feel a surge of satisfaction and accomplishment as I packed up my notes.
Outside in the hallway, I noticed Jade trembling slightly, her emotions barely contained. I knew what was happening inside her – she was saying goodbye.
Goodbye to Lucas, to the marine research she loved, to the life she wouldn’t have much longer. Without thinking, I pulled her into a hug.
“It’s going to be okay,” I whispered, not believing my own words.
Back in my office at EcoMarine Group, my mother’s assistant Daniel appeared with his usual formal efficiency.
“Ms. Anderson, regarding your shares,” he reported, “Mr. Wright instructed his people to handle it. I’m not sure what methods he used, but the company shareholders agreed to purchase at a thirty–five percent premium.”
I responded with a casual “Hmm,” not particularly impressed. Money had never been my primary concern. The success of the coral project brought me far more satisfaction than any financial gain. Besides, I had complete confidence in Blake’s capabilities → I’d expected this outcome from the beginning.
“Did you prepare the other things I asked for?” I inquired, shifting my focus.
Recently, Claire’s fans had been viciously attacking me on social media, spreading rumors that I was responsible for her injury that cost her the principal dancer position. Some had even fabricated stories about my personal life.
Now that the project presentation was complete, it was time for me to fight back. People who do wrong should face consequences.
“About those online rumors… did you gather the evidence?”
Daniel’s expression turned strange. “I prepared it, but…” he hesitated
“What is it? Just tell me!” I pressed, growing impatient.
He gave me a wry smile. “Ms. Anderson, you’ve been too busy to check online. Maybe you should look first…”
I reached for my phone, but Daniel stopped me, holding out an envelope instead.
“Ms. Anderson, after tonight you’ll no longer be CEO of Blue Wave. While you’re still in charge, would you sign my resignation
letter?”
“Why tonight specifically?” I asked, accepting the envelope.
“The shareholders agreed to the purchase price, but you haven’t signed the final papers yet.”
I signed his resignation with mixed emotions. Daniel had planned to leave after my father died, but I’d convinced him to stay during
the transition.
Now, not only was he leaving, but I too would soon be removed from Blue Wave Technologies‘ roster. I thought of Jade handing the coral project over to me before her departure, feeling a sense of miss on and responsibility.

Chapter 108.
As Daniel prepared to drive me to change clothes, he mentioned, M Wright asked me to tell you he’s arranged a celebration dinner tonight. I’ll take you to chang first.”
“A celébration dinner?” I repeat l.
It’s just a coral protection project, nothing worth celebrating,” I said dismissively, but agreed to go.
Inside, it felt like a fragrant flower had suddenly bloomed, its sweet scent seeping through every pore of my skin. Even my breath tasted sweeter.
I decided not to check the online information yet – let Claire and he fans gloat a little longer before they fell harder.
I knew Claire and I would never reconcile. Once I acted, Blake would hate me even more. Our marriage was essentially a grand one- sided love affair, and I was prepared for it to end.
Every day, I silently said goodbye to Blake in my heart. Even during our most intimate moments, I reminded myself that I couldn’t control how things would end.
After exiting BlueWave, collecting my money, and exposing Claire, I would fulfill my promise to my mother. Then I’d have no reason to stay with Blake.
“There’s a surprise waiting,” Daniel said, interrupting my thoughts.
Despite everything, I desperately wanted to see Blake. Even if I was arranging our ending, the bone–deep despair of it all made me crave his presence even more.
When we arrived at the hotel, I was greeted with VIP treatment. I recognized it as the invitation–only establishment Seth’s friend
owned.
