Chapter 157
Seth’s POV:
1 scrolled through my phone, seeing Blake Wright and that Scott woman on social media for the third time today. Some popular account shared photos of Blake holding hands with his new woman as they shopped and dined at fancy restaurants, looking disgustingly intimate.
“What a hypocrite,” I muttered, opening the comments section,
To my surprise, the public sentiment had completely shifted. They weren’t blaming Anna anymore.
“Blake Wright is such a disappointment. It’s barely been a few weeks and he’s already parading around with someone new.
“I always thought the Wright family had more class. Guess I was wrong,”
“Anna Anderson deserves better.“
“Let’s crowdfund a new man for Anna
someone better looking and richer than Blake Wright!”
I snorted at that last comment and tossed my phone aside. Sitting on a bench by the harbor, the cold wind bit at my checks but couldn’t cool the anger burning inside me.
Two days ago, Emily told me Anna was sick with a high fever. I wanted to check on her then, but Emily said Anna insisted she didn’t need anyone’s help, Stubborn woman,
“If you need to use me, I’m completely willing.”
The words tumbled out the moment Anna answered my call. The sea breeze filled my ears as I pulled my coat collar higher against the biting cold. I knew Anna was lying alone in her apartment, burning with fever.
“You think you meet the better looking and richer than Blaketeria?” Her voice was nasal and weak, yet still managed to sound amused.
“Fuck–1 gritted my teeth in frustration. “Money, money, money. That’s all you think about. Fine, I’ll give you all my money, okay? What good is being handsome anyway? Can good looks feed you? You shouldn’t eat too much anyway! It’s not healthy! Stay with me and you’ll live to ninety–nine!”
I looked up at the night sky, still rambling into the phone: “Besides, I’m young and energetic. I know how to please at woman, especially you. That old bastard can’t compare to me…
Before I could finish, I heard steady breathing on the other end
el
Damn it, the woman had fallen asleep while I was talking! I should have hung up immediately, but somehow, I couldn’t
press the end call button.
“Goodnight, Anna,” I said softly, keeping the phone to my ear, listening to her faint breathing like I was guarding something precious.
I don’t remember exactly when I decided to drive to Anna’s apartment.
All I know is that by the time I stood outside her door, it was deep into the night and freezing cold.

I knocked, but no one answered. She was definitely asleep.
“Damn it, Anna, couldn’t you find someone to take care of you? I cursed under my breath as I crouched down in the hallway outside her door.
“All night long, the chill seeped through the floor and into my bones.
When morning came, I called Anna to tell her to open the door for me..
I heard the door creak open and caught sight of Anna’s surprised face. She was in her pajamas, her hair a tangled mess, and her cheeks flushed with fever. Damn, even like this, she looked a thousand times better than that fake Wright ever deserved.
“Finally awake? I’m freezing to death out here!” I said.
