Chapter 171
Anna’s POV:
“Anna!
Blake’s voice cut through the noise of the crowd outside the studio. His tone was controlled, almost calm, But I could hear the desperatim underneath is
Seth’s hand rested on my shoulder, warm and steady despite his slightly trembling body. He leaned closer, his voice barely above a whisper..
Anna, please don’t turn around. Let me take you somewhere to eat.”
His fingers gave my shoulder a gentle squeeze a silent comfort I desperately needed tight now. I stared ahead, refusing to look back
Where else could I go? I thought to myself. After all these years with Blake, what do I have to go back to except false memories of happiness?”
1 let out a humorless laugh and turned to Seth. “Do you have any money on you? My voice shook slightly, but my eyes had already made the decision.
Behind us, Blake called my name again, louder this time. But unlike all the times before, I was the one walking away, leaving him standing alone.
I was vaguely aware of the crowd gathering outside the theater, some even recording the scene on their phones.
As we walked away, I caught a glimpse of Blake’s face eyes red, expression complex, repeatedly calling my name without caring about the spectators.
Scarlett appeared, grabbing his wrist as he attempted to follow us.
The sky opened up as Seth and I left, a light rain beginning to fall. I didn’t look back again, but I could imagine Blake standing there, watching us leave, his imposing figure suddenly looking small and broken.
“Look at this,” I said, showing Seth my phone as we sat in a restaurant. “Someone commented on Instagram saying they loved seeing Blake Wright cry.”
Seth snatched the iPhone from my hand. “Do you
to get an upset stomach? Stop looking at that shit while you’re eating!”
I watched as he devoured the mountain of food he’d ordered. Between bites, he explained how he’d managed to get back to Boston.
“Had to pawn everything valuable I had on me,” he said, stuffing a forkful of food into his mouth. “Bribed a dock worker just to get on a yacht. That watch was worth tens of thousands, you know.”
He grinned at me across the table. “No one can stop me from being with you!”
I smiled and couldn’t resist bursting his bubble. “I never said I wanted to be with you.”
Seth put down his fork and lightly tapped my head. “You’re saying this on purpose, aren’t you? Trying to ruin my appetite because I ordered too much?”
I rested my chin on my hand. “I only promised I’d consider it. I really need to think things through.”
My mind drifted to a childhood conversation with Emily. She’d once asked me: “Would you choose the one you love or the one who loves you?” Without hesitation, I’d chosen the former.
Now I was facing that exact dilemma. Seth’s feelings for me were obvious and uninhibited, reminding me of how I once felt about Blake – willing to sacrifice everything.
Though I appeared calm, my hands clutched the hem of my shirt tightly.
Seth reached over and gently ran his fingers through my hair. “Don’t stress yourself out. I know I was a jerk when we were younger and pulled a lot o pranks on you. But I swear, I only ever wanted to protect you. I won’t pressure you like that anymore.”
He raised three fingers in a solemn vow. “My presence in your life should bring you happiness. If it doesn’t, I’d rather not be in it at all.”

Chapter 171
I looked up at him, seeing no trace of his usual joking manner, only a determination I’d never noticed before.
“All those years we spent teasing each other,” he said, his voice growing deeper, did you ever wonder why I always tought you out?
His fingertips brushed against my knuckles, causing us both to flinch slightly at the contact.
Seth stood up and adjusted his jacket, his tall figure casting a long shadow under the restaurant lights. Alright, Anna. I wanted to stay longer, last there’s an emergency at the company I need to handle.”
