Chapter 74
Anna’s POV:
His blunt admission made me laugh.
Blake’s expression soured at my reaction, his male pride clearly wounded. He leaned in closer, hand sliding up my thigh. I had to stop him, placing my hand over his.
“I actually got my period this morning,” I said.
He froze immediately. His hand moved from my thigh to my lower abdomen, gently rubbing in small circles. ‘Does it hurt?”
The concern in his eyes caught me off guard. This tender version of Blake was miles away from his typical cold demeanor. His palm radiated warmth, actually easing the cramping I’d been ignoring.
“Claire gets terrible cramps during her period,” he said suddenly. “Pain meds barely help her. Only my massages seem to work. It affects her rehearsals and performances.”
His words cut like a knife. I kept my face neutral while my insides twisted more painfully than any cramp could cause.
“I’m not that bad,” I replied, trying to push his hand away, but he insisted on continuing the massage.
Blake pulled me onto his lap, warming both hands before slipping them under my shirt. “Better this way?”
“Mm–hmm,” I murmured, then couldn’t stop myself from asking, “Is this how you massage Claire too?”
His hands paused momentarily, but he didn’t answer directly. “I’ll do this for you from now on. You’re my wife. It’s only right.”
His answer disappointed me. I closed my eyes, exhausted. “Okay.”
He didn’t notice my shift in mood. His hands continued downward until his fingers brushed against my pad.
He stiffened, withdrew his hand, and rolled down the window a bit more.
I turned to stare out the window, our silence filling the car for the remainder of the drive.
Claire was waiting in the living room when we arrived at Seaside Manor.
“Blakey, you’re finally home!” she squealed, instantly attaching herself to him all it took was his outstretched arm for her to nestle against him perfectly.
I slipped upstairs to the guest room while they were engrossed with each other. I skipped dinner, focusing instead on EcoMarine Group project files to prepare for tomorrow’s meeting with Henry.
Later that night, Blake knocked on my door offering medication. I told him through the door that I’d already taken ibuprofen and just wanted to rest. After a brief hesitation, he left.
Over the next few days, Blake respected my physical condition, which gave me more opportunities to compete with Claire for his
attention.
I started preparing his breakfast, coordinating his work outfits, ensuring his platinum watch gleamed daily, artd insisted on accompanying him to pick up Claire after her rehearsals.
Claire was preparing for a new performance selection. When I first joined Blake to pick her up, she looked momentarily stunned

Claire’s eyes flashed with annoyance before she recovered her sweet smile. ‘No need, I just need to rest a bit.
One night while Claire was showering, Blake pulled me into his study. “How many more days until you’re better?
