Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover novel Chapter 1042

Chloe was quiet for a long moment.

She turned to Summer, her face as serious as ever. “Aaron, I’m not going back. Everyone here today—they’re my family now. From now on, this is where I belong.”

Summer’s small fingers twisted the edge of his shirt. “Mom… are you really not going back to Dad?”

Chloe hesitated, searching for the right words. But in the end, she decided to be honest. “Aaron, I’ve always seen you as grown up for your age, so I’m going to tell you the truth. Your dad made a huge mistake. I already had a family, but when I lost my memory, he took me away without telling anyone. I can’t forgive him for that, so I won’t be seeing him anymore.”

She gently pulled Summer into her arms. “Even though your dad and I are apart, he’ll always be your father. If you ever miss him, you can visit him in Japan whenever you want. We may not be together, but our love for you will never change.”

Chloe knew this was a lot for Summer to take in.

Kids don’t really understand the complicated messes adults get into.

All he knew was that his parents were splitting up, and his home would never be the same.

Summer wasn’t like other kids, though.

He thought about things—really thought about them.

That’s why Chloe didn’t try to sugarcoat anything.

“So… you’re actually Uncle Connor’s wife? And it was my dad who took you away?” Summer asked, his voice small.

Chloe froze for a second, then nodded.

Tears streamed down Summer’s cheeks. “My dad is such a bad guy.”

His voice got even softer. “But… he’s still my dad. Mom, can you take me back? I want to be with him.”

Before Chloe could react, Summer turned and ran.

Everyone watching felt their hearts ache.

She knew her son—so kind, so fair, always wanting to do what’s right. But beneath all that, he was sensitive, too.

She could tell this had shaken him to his core.

Just then, Connor appeared.

He wrapped an arm around Summer’s shoulders. “Aaron, you’re bunking with me tonight.”

He didn’t wait for Summer to answer—he just scooped him up and carried him off to his room.

Later, Connor ran a bath for him.

Summer sat on the sofa, looking lost, turning a little building block over and over in his hands.

Connor walked over, rolling up his sleeves. “Alright, champ. Bath time.”
