Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover novel Chapter 641

Lucas couldn't quite put his finger on why he felt so down. He just knew he was heartbroken in a way he had never been before. He blamed Linda, sure. But when she really left him, that's when he realized they were cut from the same cloth. It felt like he was mourning a part of himself, like he was the last person left on earth.

Chloe stormed out in a huff, but not too long after, Lucas stepped out of his room. He looked refreshed, wearing a set of clean clothes, and headed straight to the nursery. Tara was surprised to see him up and about, but also a bit relieved. Only Chloe seemed to have that kind of sway over him.

The baby had just woken up, nestled in Tara's arms. “Let me hold him,” Lucas said. It had been days since Tara had heard him speak. Given that it was his son, she had been really worried. Seeing Lucas back to himself brought her a bittersweet sense of gratitude and regret towards Chloe.

Tara handed the baby to Lucas. It was his first time holding him. The moment he felt the baby’s soft skin, Lucas almost stopped breathing. Since the child was born, this was his first time holding him, and his feelings were all over the place. At first, he was scared. He’d always seen the kid as a little demon, a dark bloom sprouting from the soil of hell—a sin born from his and Linda's selfishness.

As long as Linda was alive, he could pin the blame on her. But now that she was gone, he had to shoulder it all by himself. He looked down at the baby, who blinked up at him with eyes like dark, twinkling stars. In that moment, Lucas knew. This child wasn't a demon; he was an angel.

Looking into those eyes, so much like hers, Lucas’s own eyes filled with tears. Holding the child felt like cradling the world’s most precious treasure, even though he knew it was a treasure he hadn’t earned. Seeing Lucas's teary eyes, Tara realized he had fallen for the baby instantly.
