"Claire, which one of us is truly naive here? After everything I've orchestrated to get you to this point, do you really think I'd let your son inherit the Gilbert estate?"
"If he wants to inherit it, he'll need more than just sheer luck."
"Suzanne, if you even think about laying a finger on my son, you'll regret it!"
Suzanne let out a laugh, sharp and cold. "Claire, you're still not getting it, are you? Look around—who's really calling the shots here?"
Claire's expression turned frosty, as if she'd just woken up to a harsh reality. Suzanne wasn't the person she thought she knew at all.
"Was it you who got me out of St. Mary's Hospital? And funded the whole scheme to kidnap Chloe?"
"So, this was all part of your plan? You used me?"
Things started to fall into place in Claire's mind. Suzanne was the puppet master, using Claire to wreck Connor's wedding. And Claire had a pretty good idea why.
It was all for Diana. To get back at Connor for Diana.
Suzanne's reply confirmed Claire's suspicion. "Yes, otherwise, what good are you to me? My daughter gave everything to Connor for years, even lost a leg, and he ditched her. Now she's in a coma, and you expect me to just let that slide?"
