Claire's fingers started trembling uncontrollably.
“It was you, it was you!! It had to be you!!”
This had always been a lingering mystery.
Back then, the place was remote, far from any signs of life.
Why did seven armed bandits suddenly pop up out of nowhere?
And why, in such a vast forest, did they zero in on them?
When they ran away together, they hadn’t told a soul.
No one could have known.
Claire just couldn’t wrap her head around it.
“You’re the one who spilled the beans about where we were. How did you find out?”
Suzanne spoke up, “Do you remember the dove I used to raise with my friend? That dove was loyal to both of us. After you left, it followed you but listened to me too. It was the dove that led the way and eventually found you.”
Claire had a flash of memory.
Hank did have a dove.
At first, when they took off, the dove was always around, sometimes perching on her shoulder.
But once they got settled, it flew away.
They just thought it had gone back to the wild.
They even felt a bit sentimental about it.
Little did they know it had returned to Suzanne.
And then Suzanne figured out where they were and sold them out to whoever was behind it all?
Claire raised her sword, ready to thrust it into Suzanne's chest.
