Even Chloe's ears were just about worn out from hearing it all. But thank goodness, everyone was okay. Half a month later, Ruby finally got to leave the hospital. During this whole time, Connor had been running around like crazy, reaching out to top experts from all over the world. Chloe noticed he seemed even more invested in researching the illness than the Shaw family themselves. There were nights when he'd be up until dawn, buried in medical literature.
One night, Chloe woke up in the middle of the night. She found Connor in the study, once again buried in a report. Lately, he'd been obsessed with all sorts of medical papers and reports. It left Chloe scratching her head. She strolled in and flipped through one of the reports. "What are you up to? Thinking of ditching business for a career in medicine?"
Connor gathered the reports and put them aside. "Just couldn't sleep. These help me nod off." Chloe could relate. When she struggled with insomnia, she found that dry books did just the trick to make her sleepy. She casually perched on his lap. "Why can't you sleep? Got something on your mind?"
Connor wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a soft kiss. "Paradise Resort is finally finished. There's an opening ceremony in a few days. Want to come along?"
Chloe nodded eagerly. "Absolutely! I haven't been back to Riverbrook in forever." So much had happened in the past few months. Time seemed to fly by. In the blink of an eye, it was already spring. Chloe was nearly five months pregnant, and it had been almost three months since she last visited Riverbrook. It was about time to head back.
