Connor's eyes were hit with a wave of disappointment. Yet, he managed to pull off a polite smile. "We'll have another shot at it."
Just then, an assistant burst in without knocking. "Mr. Sartori, we have a problem. Little Tim's gone missing."
Connor's face changed instantly at the news. He shot up from his seat. "What do you mean, missing?"
The usually calm and collected Connor showed a rare crack of panic and loss of composure. Those words hit him like a sharp knife straight to the heart. Missing. Missing.
The assistant, voice shaky, explained, "I was playing with the young master in his room, but stepped out to the balcony for a call. It was barely three minutes, and when I turned back, he was gone. We've looked everywhere."
The assistant was visibly trembling. He knew the young master was the pride and joy of everyone at Sartori Corporation. If something truly happened, no amount of apologies would ever be enough.
Connor's fingers tensed up. He directed, "How long has he been missing?"
"Ten, ten minutes."
Connor took a deep breath, trying to gather himself. "He's got to still be in the hotel. Get the manager to pull the surveillance footage, give Tim's photo to all the hotel staff, and have them help search."
He turned to Makiko, "Mr. Makiko, I could really use your help."
Makiko had a lot of influence in the area. If this was a kidnapping, he'd be a real asset. But Connor hoped it wasn't that serious. He knew his son well. Even at just three years old, Tim was quite the little prankster. This wasn't the first time he'd hidden just to watch everyone panic. Still, Connor couldn't take any chances.
