"How is Xander now?"
Nicole asked subconsciously.
Mark sighed and touched Nicole's head. He whispered, "I'm afraid there would be a big change this time. I'll leave now. You stay here. If you need anything, go ask Uncle Jason. Don't leave us the last to know everything. Besides, I hope that you won't get into any trouble from now on, understand?"
He frowned with worries.
Nicole hurriedly nodded.
"Uncle Mark, take care. You can use our strength at an appropriate time. I feel that Xander's matter this time is not simple. Although you are unwilling to say it, I can feel that it might have something to do with us, right?"
"Stop asking around. No matter what, I'll be fine. Emory should be fine, too."
Mark didn't sound confident. Nicole could hear it.
Soon Samuel returned.
Nicole hurriedly walked up to him.
"How's it going? Where's Lucas?"
"Lucas is Lexie's team leader, so he stays in the military to deal with the follow-up matters. He probably won't be able to come back tonight."
Samuel shook the snowflakes on his shoulders off as he spoke.
"It's snowing heavily outside. Roads and airports are probably going to be shut down."
Nicole took Samuel's coat.
She felt so heavy.
"Hurry up and take a shower. The heating is on. Are you hungry? I'll get you something to eat. We all have eaten."
Nicole looked at Samuel's exhausted face with distress, but she didn't know how to console him.
Emory was his eldest brother. Now that Emory was being investigated, he was probably the one who felt the most uneasy.
Samuel nodded, and then went to the room.
When Edwin heard that Samuel had returned, he asked someone to prepare food for him, so Nicole didn't have to do it.
"Where's Samuel?"
"He's taking a shower."
Nicole replied to Edwin while thinking.
With such a big incident happening to Emory, how was Claire doing now?
After Samuel came out, the servant had already prepared the food, but he did not have any appetite.
Edwin knew that they must have something to say, so he asked the servants to have a rest and then went back to his own room.
When there were only Nicole and Samuel in the dining room, Nicole whispered, "I know you're upset. Uncle Mark has come, and I know Xander was investigated. You must be worried now, right?"
"Yes."
Samuel nodded and whispered, "Ashley wants to go over to accompany Claire, but her identity is so sensitive, so she can't go there for now. Gabrielle is pregnant now, so it is not convenient for her to go there, either. Xander has got in trouble for us this time."
"Does it have anything to do with us?"
"Not really. Someone reported that Xander was involved with the gangs and that he had been covering for them. Xander has been investigated and Steven has also been secretly investigated."
Nicole was surprised.
Everyone knew about the relationship between the four young masters of the Seapolis City, but they chose to ignore it. That was because, no matter Emory or Blair, they were just friends and did not have any interests to entangle with Steven. Why would someone report Xander to be covering for Steven?
Steven's profession had been cleansed a lot in the past few years, but there were still some incidents. If they really investigated, they might be able to find out something.
Evidently, the guy was targeting the four young masters of the Seapolis City by setting them each up and the easiest ones were Steven and Emory.
Nicole quickly analyzed the situation and whispered, "I'll go over. You are a soldier. Do you need to be examined as well?"
Samuel looked at Nicole helplessly.
She was so smart.
He didn't know how to hide it from her.
Nicole had figured it out from his expression.
She smiled and said, "Actually, I don't want Lucas to follow your path. It's too dangerous. Perhaps I'm not a good wife for a soldier, but I think this is a good opportunity. Maybe I can break Lucas' path to the army so that he can do whatever he wants in the future. You've done a lot for the country and the people for so many years and have been planning to discharge from the army. If you could officially discharge from the army because of this, that would be good."
"I'm afraid it won't turn out as you wish."
Samuel touched Nicole's head helplessly and said, "My application for discharge has been suspended. If they sign it for me now, then I may be considered as an escaping soldier. Don't forget, Steven is not only Xander's brother, but also mine. I haven't been targeted yet. They are just doing a routine inspection on me. But the business dealings between Steven and me might be exposed. So I might not be allowed to leave the Seapolis City during this period of time. It seems that the snow is getting heavier and the roads are going to be shut down, so I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying at home with you and the children."
Nicole was surprised, but she nodded.
This result is reasonable. Samuel and Steven's dealings were clear and transparent. They were just afraid that someone would deliberately set them up.
Thinking of this, Nicole suddenly thought of a person.
The woman who had been misunderstood to have an affair with Samuel in City A, but had been thrown into the sea and drowned in the end.
She felt the chill, but she didn't ask Samuel anything again.

What is it with Chinese authors. The characters are slow, he finally opened his mouth, it took him so long just to say two words...the house keeper would have put the person out before he even spoke....is this really how people are over there..the characters are always lost in thought, they might as well live in their heads.....
