Chapter 52
Sharon was about to say “Cutie Homie“, but she choked on the words before they could come ou
“Are you seriously still gonna act like you didn’t follow Edwin? What’s the deal with all this?” Edric’s sharp comment snapped Sharon back to reality,
Edwin’s warm look turned icy quickly. When Sharon glanced back, his vibe was frosty, and his face was as cold as ice. He was totally buying inta Edric’s story.
“Sorry,” Sharon said with a heavy heart, pushing aside the flood of memories. She admitted her misstep, not that she was owning up to railing Edwin, but that she had already moved on after the divorce, intending to leave everything about him behind, yet found herself here, reminiscing.
After that, she turned and prepared to walk away.
“What are you doing here?” Suddenly, Edwin asked from behind.
He gave Sharon a long look. He’d mistaken her for that girl from years ago. Sharon’s voice even sounded like hers. It took four years of marriage for
him to realize that.
With her heart already hardened, Sharon didn’t bother telling the truth. “Just here for some medicine,” she muttered, moving past him.
As Sharon passed Edric and Tilda, she caught Edric’s disdainful snort, oozing with contempt and a mocking certainty that she wasn’t being honest.
Edric strolled up to Edwin. “Dude, she already confessed to following you. Why bother asking why she’s here! Giving her an out? No need for that,
man
Edwin remained silent, lowering his head and sinking into silence again.
Tikla asked. “Edwin, isn’t this the place where you stayed when you hurt your eyes? Why suddenly want to come and see?”
“Don’t you want to see it?” Edwin suddenly grabbed her hand and asked,
Tilda nodded, slightly puzzled. “Yeah, I do. I’m curious about any place you’ve stayed”
Edwin felt disappointed. This place wasn’t just where he stayed. It was where they both found a new beginning
Edwin’s life took a devastating turn when he was in a car accident at seventeen. His father perished protecting him, and he lost his sight in the crash. The loss and guilt were unbearable. His mother’s blame only worsened the pain, as she abandoned him here, unable to cope with the tragedy.
Edwin once believed his life was doomed to darkness until he met the girl. Together, they found solace in each other during their darkest moments, with her providing him the strength to persevere and rebuild himself.
Her voice kept ringing in his ears, saying, “Cutie Homie, even though we’re both messed up, we gotta keep on living. Im gonna treat my dad right, and you gotta keep pushing through too. Getting stronger is how we make things right.
“You gotta cat, otherwise, you’ll waste away. And if you waste away, your dad won’t come back.
“Don’t think just because your eyes can’t see, you’re useless. There are tons you can still do. And if push comes to shove, I’ll be your eyes from now on. I’ll show you the world through my eyes. I’ll be your big eyes, forever!
“Don’t slack off, listen to me carefully.
“Cutie Homie, this is really hard, I don’t understand. How about you teach me?”
Back then, that girl’s nagging got him back on track. He got back to his old self, gladly helping her out with stuff she couldn’t handle.
Despite seeing through her tricks, he played along, enjoying her laughter when she succeeded. She brought warmth to his life, especially with her silly nickname for him, “Cutie Homie, just because he looked good.
“Why did you stop calling me Cutie Homie?” Edwin asked, peering at Tilda
Tilda was caught off guard, hesitating. “Cute Cutie Homic!”
Confused about the sudden request, Tilda glanced at Edric, hoping for some guidance
Edric walked over. “We’re all grown up. Isn’t asking people to call you like that is too far! Tilda’s not a kid anymore.”
After that, Edric grabbed Tilda’s arm, adding, “Suit yourself, we’ll wait for you outside.”
Outside, Tilda finally dared to ask Edric, “What’s up with calling him Cutie Homie?”

I don’t know” Edric scratched his head. “n’t it a nickname just between you guys?”
Tilda ran her hand through her long hair in frustration. “Didn’t you think Edwin’s look at Sharon just now was kinda strange!”
“What’s so strange about it?” Edric shrugged. “Sharon was married to Edwin for four years, and he barely noticed her. No matter how scheming she might be, she couldn’t possibly cause any trouble!
Tilda remained uneasy despite Edric’s reassurance. Edwin’s unexpected presence here only added to her confusion.
Tilda abruptly said, “I gotta go!” Then she hurried off without waiting for Edric’s reply.
Edwin lingered in the garden for a bit before heading to the hospital director’s office. There, he made a generous donation, which left the director beaming with gratitude.
Edwin’s four–million–dollar donation was a game–changer for the small–town hospital. Though the director invited him for a tour, Edwin declined. showing little interest.
