Chapter 256
In an instant, her mood soured.
So, Aurora was definitely on her way back–Lucas‘ expression had already said it all.
Wendy clenched her fists, a surge of frustration bubbling in her chest.
“Aurora Walton, you damn bitch. If you didn’t want to come back in the first place, then why return now? What’s the point? Do
you think it’s fun to toy with people like this?”
The curve of Lucas’s lips felt like a knife to Wendy’s eyes.
She couldn’t understand him–after being strung along like that, how could he still look so happy?
Lucas glanced at her, and clarity struck.
Without hesitation, he said, “Go out for a bit tonight.”
The words hit her like a thunderclap.
Wendy pointed at herself, stunned. “Are you kicking me out?”
Her voice cracked, thick with disbelief and hurt.
After knowing him for so long, Lucas was really throwing her out over someone else?
Just the thought of it made her chest tighten. She could barely breathe.
Lucas frowned. “You’re an adult. You should have your own life, not spend every day here.”
Wendy didn’t respond. She just stood there, eyes brimming with tears, staring at him like a wounded puppy.
That look left Lucas at a loss for words.
But before either of them could say anything else, the sound of a car engine came from outside.
Lucas immediately realized–it had to be Aurora.
This wasn’t the right moment to send Wendy away.
If Aurora walked in and thought he was flustered, it would only make things worse.
With no other choice, he shot Wendy a sharp warning glance.
The look in his eyes said it all–he was telling her to behave.
Wendy pressed her lips together and said nothing
Instead, she gave Lucas a sweet, obedient smile.

When Aurora walked in, the first thing she saw was Wendy sitting at the table, and on the table, a beautifully arranged plate of
mille–feuille pancakes.
Just by looking at them, she could already tell they were made with care.
She ignored the subtle challenge in Wendy’s gaze and turned her eyes to Lucas. “You made this?”
Lucas nodded. “Yeah. Try it. See how it tastes.”
“Exactly, Aurora. Lukey made it just for you,” Wendy chimed in, her voice tinged with envy and jealousy.
“Honestly, you’re the only one who could make him go to such lengths. And even then, he had to ask you over and over before you finally agreed to come back.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t take his kindness for granted the way you do ”
The moment Wendy saw Aurora, all the promises she’d just made to Lucas vanished into thin air.
Lucas‘ expression turned icy, the cold fury rising in his eyes
