Chapter 315
Lucas stepped up beside Aurora, his gaze sweeping over the chattering crowd with growing irritation.
“Is all this noise about you?” he asked casually, though his eyes never once strayed from the people surrounding them.
He was committing every face to memory.
These people had the nerve to gang up on his Rora when he wasn’t around.
They’d pay for that.
At first, no one thought much of his presence.
But the moment they met his eyes, a strange unease settled over them.
There was something in his stare that made them all flinch, as if they were being silently called to account.
Aurora understood what he meant right away.
She smiled lightly and said, “I’m not sure. Maybe they’re just gossiping about something else.”
Lucas didn’t reply. His silence spoke louder than words as his piercing gaze remained locked on every person there.
He wasn’t letting a single one of them off the hook.
The woman in the red dress began to panic as the energy in the room shifted.
Everyone had been on her side a moment ago–what happened?
And anyway, wasn’t Aurora the one who tried to seduce her future brother–in–law? Wasn’t she the mistress in all this? Since when did she become untouchable?
The more she thought about it, the more bitter she felt.
So, this was how the wealthy played the game?
No matter how damning the accusations, all it took was a few words from someone powerful and everything disappeared.
Her chest tightened with resentment.
She couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“This is how people like you operate, isn’t it?” she shouted.
Her lips curled into a sneer as she turned her glare on Aurora.
She didn’t believe for a second that Aurora was innocent. Not without proof.
The moment those words left her mouth, the room erupted.
Every pair of eyes turned to the woman in red.
Even Lucas raised an eyebrow, mildly surprised that someone had the nerve to speak up like that.
Ah, the tallest tree catches the wind.
He didn’t say a word–just stared at her quietly, expression unreadable.
Truthfully, once Lucas had shown up, Tessa had already given up hope of taking Aurora down.
The man radiated capability and control, and even she found it hard to believe anyone could go against him and win.
But then this woman in red stepped up.
Tessa hadn’t expected it. Whatever Rachel had whispered to her must’ve been convincing enough to make her believe in a baseless rumor.
Tessa’s gaze slid to Rachel, her eyes glinting with satisfaction.
What a sharp little blade that was always full of surprises.
