Chapter 355
Aurora hadn’t known Lucas for nearly as long.
Between the two, Wendy was sure Lucas would choose her brother in the end.
With that thought, her mood lightened considerably.
She picked up her phone and called her brother.
And on the other end, Kenneth, who had been ignoring Lucas’s calls all this time, picked up immediately the moment he saw his sister’s name flash on the screen
If Lucas had seen that, he would’ve been furious.
After all this time trying to reach Kenneth with no luck, all it took was one call from Wendy to get through? If this wasn’t premeditated, then what was?
It was obvious the siblings were deliberately avoiding him.
But for now, Lucas knew none of this.
He had no idea what was going on in their heads.
If he had a choice, he would’ve preferred a quiet life with Aurora–just the two of them, free from anyone else’s interference.
Kenneth hadn’t really wanted to take Wendy’s call, but then again, she was alone in Ravenshore.
If something happened to her, he’d never be able to live it down.
Besides, no one at home even knew she had snuck back into the country,
So, with all things considered, Kenneth answered quickly.
“What is it, Wendy? What’s going on?”
Wendy could instantly hear the irritation in his voice.
After everything she’d gone through today, the coldness in her brother’s tone stung. Her voice turned sharp in response.
“Brother, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you annoyed with me now?”
Kenneth frowned, clearly frustrated with her attitude. “That’s not what I meant. You’re the one who called me–if you’ve got something to say, then say it.”
He’d been working all day and didn’t have the energy to deal with her tantrums.
And truth be told, he was already anxious.
Lucas had been calling him nonstop.
He knew Lucas well enough to realize that something had to be wrong.
It Wendy hadn’t caused some kind of trouble, there was no reason Lucas would be this persistent.
The more Kenneth thought about it, the more agitated he became.
He had no idea what kind of trouble his sister had stirred up back home, but one thing was clear–Lucas wouldn’t be calling him nonstop for no reason.
Just the thought of facing Lucas again made him uneasy,
That man’s expression alone could be terrifying, and with how much influence and power he’d gained over the years, Kenneth knew better than to say the wrong thing
Though Wendy was usually close with her brother, she still feared him when he put on that stern face,
After all, he had always been the authoritative figure in her life.
