He prayed Tessa wouldn’t smash the phone in a fit of rage.

He’d only bought it a few months ago and had been taking great care of it!

“Miss Tessa, please don’t get too upset. If you’d like, I can step out and speak to Miss Aurora myself.”

Tessa replied coldly, “No need. I’ll deal with her myself.”

With that, she turned on her heel and walked out, heels clicking sharply against the floor.

She didn’t want to stay in the hospital room and risk disturbing Grace’s rest.

To be fair, while she didn’t have much affection for Aurora, when it came to Grace, she was genuinely devoted–no one could deny she was a dutiful daughter.

The assistant, though still worried about his phone, knew better than to protest.

Tessa was technically his superior, after all.

All he could do now was silently pray that the two sisters had a civil conversation and that his phone survived it.

Outside the room, Tessa swiped the screen to answer the call.

Aurora, seeing the call connect, immediately spoke, “How’s the Chairwoman? Is she alright?”

When no voice came from the other end, she frowned. “What’s going on? Is her condition serious? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Tessa let out a cold scoff. “Aurora, you really are something.”

“It’s you?” Aurora instantly realized what was going on. “Why do you have Jason’s phone?”

Tessa laughed dryly. “Of course I have it. I’m the one here with Mom right now.

“As for you, always claiming to care so much about her, when it really mattered, where were you? I didn’t see you anywhere. You call that being a good daughter?”

Aurora slowly clenched her fists.

Even if she’d made mistakes, Tessa had no right to judge her.

“My business is none of yours,” Aurora snapped, her tone just as harsh. “Give the phone back to Jason. I have no interest in talking to you.”

“No interest?” Tessa scoffed with open disdain. “Well, I’m the one with Mom now. If you’ve got the guts, come here yourself.”

“Fine. Send me the address.”

Aurora didn’t hesitate in the slightest. She took Tessa’s words at face value, being by her mother’s side was exactly what she wanted.

But Tessa suddenly backpedaled.

“As if. Now that I’m here, we don’t need you. You want the company, right? Then go focus on that.”

She casually glanced at her freshly done nails, her face brimming with smug satisfaction.

Once Grace woke up, she would finally see who truly cared about her.
