Chapter 48
Thea didn’t even have the energy to mock how crazy Jake was. The moment she heard he wanted to take her to Stefan, her legs nearly gave out.
Before Thea could even get the words “Are you insane?” out, Jake grabbed her hand and dragged her forward.
Thea struggled desperately, her wrist turning red from his grip, but Jake showed no sign of letting go.
At the door, Jake raised his voice, shouting into the room, “Grandpa”
Thea’s face turned ashen, and she lowered her head in defeat.
The sound of footsteps grew closer, but the voice that greeted them wasn’t Stefan’s.
Nicolas stood there, his gaze cold as ice. He glanced at Jake’s hand gripping Thea’s wrist, then asked in a voice as chilly a frost. “Dad’s resting. What do you want with him?”
Hearing that. Thea let out a breath.
But in the text second, Jake spoke up again. “If Grandpa’s not here, then I’ll just ask you. I want permission to marry Thea The Rowland and Hendrix marriage stays as planned.
A cold chuckle escaped Nicolas as his eyes narrowed slightly. He didn’t answer, just turned his gaze to Thea.
Though Nicolas didn’t appear angry, Thea felt a suffocating pressure, like someone had their hand wrapped around her heart
Driven by sheer survival instinct, Thea ripped her wrist out of Jake’s grip and blurted out, “Mr. Hendrix, I never agreed to this Jake’s forcing me. I don’t want to marry him,”
Jake shot her a furious look and snapped. “Thea, this is your last chance. If you keep causing trouble, there will never be anything between us again. Don’t even think about marrying me.
Nicolas nodded slightly, his voice calm but biting. “Exactly. This is your last chance. If you just say the word, I can make sure you marry Jake get rid of me now?
There’s no point in forcing it. Respect her decision and go get some rest.
Jake wasn’t ready to give up yet and continued, “Thea and I have been together for so long. I don’t believe she has any feelings for me. Thea, can you swear, right now, that you don’t feel a thing for me anymore?”
Thea lowered her head, lost in her own thoughts, barely registering his words.
Nicolas glanced at her, his fingers tightening slightly, the sharpness in his eyes returning “Didn’t you hear what she said?”
Jake opened his mouth to argue, but one look at Nicolas‘ expression had him swallowing his words.
As much as he resented Nicolas for controlling him, Jake couldn’t deny the fear that rose in him around his uncle.
With a dark look on his face, Jake left, defeated and furious.
