hapter 54
When Thea woke up again, the sunlight outside was bright, shining warmly through the cracks onto her body.
It was so beautiful. Thea almost thought she had reached heaven. Then she tried to move but found she had no strength. ‘Am I dead she wondered.
For a moment, someone opened the door. A few people in white lab coats came in and checked her condition.
The real sensation of touch told Thea she wasn’t dead, nor was this a dream. Everything was real.
Thea spoke, her voice hoarse. “Can you tell me, who saved me?”
No one answered her. The doctors just glanced at her before walking out of the room
Thea wanted to say something more, but another wave of dizziness hit, and she drifted back to sleep-
The next time Thea woke up, it was the middle of the night. Her body felt much better.
Thea got out of bed carefully, her bare feet touching the cold floor. Looking around at the familiar surroundings, she finally realized where she was
This was Nicolas house. So, in the end, it was Nicolas who had saved her. Her feelings were a mix of relief and uncertainty
Before she knew it, Thea had wandered out of the room. The living room
om was dark, but she could make out the silhouette of someone sitting on the couch. And the TV was on.
The dim light from the screen illuminated the sharp lines of Nicolas‘ face. He sat there, as stoic as ever, his expression unreadable as the flickering images from the television played in his eyes.
