Chapter 39
“I…” Sonia hadn’t expected Dorothy to turn the tables, her face paling slightly.[]
The crowd started to agree.[]
After all, it was a personal item Sonia had been wearing on her wrist. No one could just steal it from her in plain sight.[]
Dwayne glared at Sonia with gloomy eyes.[]
Sonia suppressed her panic and blurted out, “No, I wasn’t wearing the bracelet,
so…”
Seeing her about to crack, Dorothy pressed harder. “You said this was your favorite bracelet, a gift from Mr. Lambert. If you weren’t wearing it, how was I supposed to know you had such a nice bracelet?”
Dorothy grabbed Sonia’s hand, which was clutching the bracelet. “Did you take it out to show it off to me? Did I see you put it in the pocket and take it?“]
“Enough.”
Dwayne gripped Dorothy’s wrist. “How long do you want to make a scene in front of so many people?”
A scene?
Dorothy stared at Dwayne in disbelief, and her heart seemed to die instantly. “Defending my innocence is making a scene?”
“Innocence?” Dwayne chuckled abruptly. “The bracelet was found in your bag. You call that innocence?”
?”
His words were like a death sentence.
Her kindness earned praise from the crowd.
