Dwayne’s gaze deepened, and he was about to release Sonia from his arms when she grabbed his sleeve. “Dwayne, I’m still not feeling well. Can you accompany me to fetch some medicine?“]

He frowned. Since Dorothy had already vanished into the crowd, he averted his gaze and nodded.[]

At the pharmacy, Sonia turned around to look at him. Noticing that he was absent–minded, she smiled and walked forward, “Dwayne, Brenden wants to go to a private kindergarten, but I’m having some trouble filling out some paperwork. I was wondering… could he be temporarily listed as your son?“[]

Worried that he might say no, she added, “You’ve got nothing to worry about. It’s just temporary, and no one else will know.“[]

Dwayne stared at her, his gaze scrutinizing.]

She had to brace herself to meet his gaze. Clenching her fists slightly, she asked tentatively, “Dwayne, are you… mad?“]

“Listing him as my son won’t be appropriate,” he said, his expression unchanged. “I can ask my mother to adopt him as her stepson.“[]

“So, Brenden is gonna be Dwayne’s brother?]

“What will that make me?“[]

Dwayne’s gaze deepened even more as he stared at her. “You don’t want to?“]
