Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 112

"I only care about the results," Rupert's tone was firm, as if he were addressing an employee. "Do I need to teach you how to handle this?"

Bridget's joy hadn't faded from her face, but fear began to simmer in her eyes. She nodded dumbly. "I…I understand. I'll apologize and make amends."

"Good."

With that, Rupert turned and left. Bridget's knees buckled, sending her staggering backward, but Miriam caught her just in time.

"Bridget, you can't mess this up. Rupert hasn't cut ties - there's still a chance."

"He hasn't cut ties, but he's becoming more indifferent toward me."

"So what? As long as he agrees to marry you, you'll officially be in a position to deal with his other women. Then Sylvia will have nowhere to turn!" Miriam, clutching her bleeding neck, seethed with anger.

Bridget scoffed, "Sylvia. We'll see about that."

...

Back at the house.

Naomi quickly ordered a pot of coffee and downed half of it in an attempt to calm her nerves.

"That scared me to death," she said, playfully scolded Sylvia. "Sweetie, why did you cause such a commotion without consulting me first?"

"You can't keep a secret to save your life; that's why I didn't tell you." Sylvia retorted, sipping her coffee.

Naomi clicked her tongue but wasn’t truly offended. Edwin, sitting next to Naomi, was also worried for Sylvia. "Sylvia, this is too risky. What if the Simpson family spreads rumors about you being mentally unstable? This could affect the rest of your life."

"They wouldn't dare. If they spread it, people will demand evidence and reasons, which would implicate Tristan. Do you think they'd risk that?" Sylvia countered.
