“Huh? I...” Sylvia froze for a moment before realizing the doctor had mistaken her for someone else.
“Early pregnancy, huh? Some bleeding, take it easy, no jumping around, and watch your diet.”
“No, doctor, I…”
“Alright, next.” The doctor waved her off, signaling for the next patient.
The next woman was already pushing the door open.
Sylvia figured it wasn’t worth explaining anymore and quickly left the room.
As she turned around, she bumped into someone.
“Sorry,” she mumbled, looking down.
As she was about to walk away, someone grabbed her wrist tightly.
“You lied to me? You’re pregnant.”
The voice, usually calm and collected, was now brimming with anger.
Sylvia looked up, only to find Rupert standing before her.
What was he doing here?
Was he accompanying Bridget?
But Bridget was clearly here for an abortion.
Before Sylvia could sort through her thoughts, her wrist hurt even more.
She hissed, “Let go, it hurts. I’m not pregnant.”
Rupert’s eyes narrowed, his anger palpable, but he loosened his grip slightly and pushed open the doctor’s door.
“What’s her situation?”
The doctor pushed up his glasses, looking at Sylvia, “You’re her husband, right? Make sure she doesn’t overexert herself. There’s some bleeding, signs of a threatened miscarriage. She needs to rest and ensure proper nutrition.”
“He’s not! It’s not me! I’m not…” Mandy!
Sylvia was almost shouting.
Seeing her so agitated, the doctor quickly said, “I have other patients, please, you must leave.”
Rupert pulled Sylvia and left the office.
Sylvia was baffled, being dragged out of the building. She shook her hand free in annoyance.
