Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 247

He ran his fingers through her hair, a gentle, almost tender gesture that surprised her.

Sylvia clenched her fists, saying nothing, her body feeling colder rather than warmer.

She met his gaze with defiance. "Just because we had something doesn't mean it matters. You don't care, I don't care. Given the chance, I'll leave."

"You won't."

"......"

Her whole body tensed, a slight shiver running down her spine. Was he threatening her?

She knew her mom was with the Garcia family!

But in the next moment, he placed a soft kiss on her forehead, devoid of any dominance, just a gentle touch.

While she was still in a daze, he hooked the chain around her neck with his finger.

The pendant dangled between them, its emerald shine catching the light.

He repeated, "You won't."

Sylvia reached out to grab it, but he dodged her attempt with a teasing smirk.

"I forgot to take it off," she insisted stubbornly.

"Sure."

He didn't push further, instead lifting her onto the couch, then reaching for the bag of medication.

"Chris said to change the dressing before bed."

"I can do it myself." Sylvia reached for the supplies.

"Don't move."

Rupert gently pushed her hand away, lifting her foot onto his knee.

Sylvia sat still, watching him as he undid her bandage with precise care.

The scrape had stopped bleeding long ago, though her ankle was still a bit swollen, but not as red as it had been that afternoon.

Rupert reapplied the ointment, secured a fresh bandage, then wrapped it with a layer of plastic wrap.

"Go take a shower. If you need anything, call me."

"I can manage. You should go home," Sylvia said, feeling awkward.

"Need a hand with your shower?" Rupert began to remove his jacket.

"No!"
