Not too far away, a couple of waitstaff hovered, their eyes darting nervously between Sylvia and the scene unfolding before them. Sylvia herself seemed on edge, her movements jittery and unsure.
Rupert paused, his jaw clenched, trying his best to keep his emotions in check.
"It’s all good," he said, adjusting his posture to face the sunlight streaming through the skyscraper windows.
“Yeah,” Sylvia replied softly, touching her lips absentmindedly before inching away, her gaze fixed on a distant point.
The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm and almost stifling heat over everyone...
After a couple of cups of coffee, the noise from the party downstairs started bubbling up.

In the ballroom, Warren and Fiona Carmen were busy greeting guests. They’d almost made it around the room, but there was still no sign of Hilbert.
Warren felt a pang of unease and turned to his mother, Fiona. "Mom, where’s Uncle Hilbert? It’s such an important day, and he’s nowhere to be seen."
Fiona, holding a glass of champagne, scanned the room. It struck her that Hilbert hadn’t been around since he stepped out earlier.
"Could he have had too much to drink? Let me ask your Aunt."
She approached Mrs. Carmen, but Mrs. Carmen was just as clueless.
Exchanging worried glances, Fiona and Warren decided to look for him after ensuring the guests were entertained.
Just then, Bridget and Bella walked over.
“Mrs. Fiona, Warren, long time no see! Congratulations to the Carmen Group! By the way, where’s Mr. Carmen? I wanted to toast him personally. Don’t tell me he’s still out with Sylvia?”
Warren’s heart skipped a beat. “Sylvia? Why would my uncle be with Sylvia?”
Feigning surprise, Bridget covered her mouth. “You didn’t know? Mr. Carmen asked Sylvia to design some jewelry. Apparently, there were some issues, but he promised to help her out.”
She gave Bella a quick look.
