Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 51

After saying that, she headed straight for the guest room.

Rupert was smoking a cigarette, pouring himself a cup of coffee with an air of indifference. After taking a sip, he grimaced. He picked up the coffee canister from the side table, lost in thought.

...

In the middle of the night.

Sylvia woke herself up with a cough, her throat dry and itchy, and felt dizzy as she got up. She could only lean against the wall as she went in search of water.

After a long struggle to drink some water, her head felt even more dizzy. She took a couple of steps, her legs gave out, and she started to fall towards the floor. Fortunately, she didn't hit the ground but was caught in a swift embrace.

"How can you be in such poor shape?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Sylvia, with memories from a past life, started to tremble.

"Don't, don’t touch me. I was wrong, I was wrong, please don't touch me..." she murmured, tightly gripping Rupert's shirt collar.

Rupert could even hear the cracking sound of her knuckles as she gripped him forcefully, reminiscent of her sudden outburst in the hospital.

Frowning, he turned and carried Sylvia into the master bedroom. After laying her on the bed, her resistance grew even more fierce, leaving three scratch marks across Rupert's chest.

"Sylvia, Sylvia..."

"No! Don't!"

Sylvia suddenly opened her eyes wide and bit down on Rupert's neck. Her mouth was filled with the taste of blood, but her body continued to tremble, as if resisting something.

Rupert just frowned, letting her bite.

Eventually, Sylvia, weakened by fever, passed out, blood still seeping from the corner of her mouth.

Rupert wiped the blood from Sylvia's mouth, his eyes ominous.

Once she had calmed down, he stood up, dabbing at his own wound with a towel, and then dialed Orson's number.
