It was chilling.
Just like in the past life, when she spoke to him, he was always distant, cold, and dripping with disdain.
He had pegged her as a woman full of schemes. Her explanations were nothing but sophistry to him.
So, she didn't bother explaining anymore.
Sylvia forced a bitter smile, “Like I said, the person in the photo isn’t me. Since Bridget doesn’t claim it, we might as well ask Uncle himself.
But it’s funny, Bridget, you and Uncle are engaged. It's only natural for you two to do something intimate. Rupert didn’t even object just now, why the rush to explain? It’s as if you’re saying you don’t love him.”
Throwing mud, she could do it too. She had learned it from Bridget in a past life, after all.
Bridget's face stiffened, and without even adjusting her expression, she turned around, shaking her head repeatedly.
“No, it’s not that. I love Rupert, I just don’t want to lie, that’s all.”
“If you don’t want to lie, why slander me? Besides…” Sylvia locked eyes with Rupert, emphasizing every word, “Besides, is Rupert the only man in the world? Could the child not belong to someone else?”
She swore to herself, “Rupert, in this lifetime, I’d rather be involved with a stranger than have anything to do with you!”
As Rupert heard this, his knuckles turned white, his gaze unfathomable.
In a deep voice, he asked, “What did you say?”
Sylvia repeated, raising her voice, “I said, you aren’t the only man in the world! I could carry anyone’s child, but it would never be yours! Am I wrong?”
Rupert squinted, his presence overpowering, almost making Sylvia lose her footing.
She quickly turned away, looking at the others.
“Anything else? If not, I’m quite tired and will go rest now.”
She turned to leave.
“Stop!” Rupert’s tone became harsher, his voice terrifying, “Who is it?”
Everyone was taken aback. No one expected Rupert to ask such a question.
