The James Villa
Looking at the huge manor in front of her, Felicity looked apprehensive and gloomy.
She never wanted to set foot in this place again.
Every time she came here, she always felt an indescribable depression and suffocation.
She took a deep breath and was ready to battle fiercely with her family.
This time she came here alone. After all, she didn't want to trouble Jason any more with her problems.
She rang the doorbell and waited. The one who came out to receive her, however, was Stanley James himself.
To Felicity’s surprise, Stanley welcomed her and took her inside with a kind face; there was no anger on his face.
"Say it! What do you want?"
Stanley’s kind smile made her uneasy as she was unaccustomed to it. She decided to keep things straight forward.
"I wanted to ask you, who was the one who stopped the wedding car that day?"
Stanley didn't scold Felicity on her rudeness, but asked her this question calmly.
Felicity hesitated for a moment, "A friend who came to help."
Stella, who had always been tricky and mean, said suddenly with a kind smile, "Oh! Then you should introduce us to him."
"A friend? Not your boyfriend?"
Stanley was more willing to believe that he was Felicity's boyfriend.
"Yes! A friend. Didn’t you call me here to talk about me running away from the wedding? Come on, say it! What do you want? "
Felicity didn't want to talk to them about Jason any more, and changed the topic.
"Oh! Don’t worry about that, it’s nothing! Opposite to our expectations, after you broke off the engagement, the Rhodes family didn’t give us trouble, nor did they demand any compensation. So, umm, the friend of yours must be big enough that even the Rhodes doesn’t dare to provoke him!"
Stanley had completely changed his colors and was talking suddenly as if he was on Felicity’s side, as if he had not just some days ago tried to force her into marriage.
Hearing him Felicity only felt ridiculed in her heart; she sighed silently at her family’s ability to change their stance to whatever gives them advantage. Disgusting!
Hannah, on the contrary, was more realistic. She refused to accept that Felicity could ever know a person of such high status. She sneered, "He must be a rich boy from a powerful family just helping out!"
Then she looked at her parents and said, "I am telling you Mom, Dad! Bury those wishes as soon as possible! If he is rich and powerful, why would he ever like someone with such background as her? "
Her words really stabbed Felicity in her heart…
Hannah was right. Jason was really someone she could never reach.
Stella, however, sneered. She gave a look to Hannah and then said to Felicity in a kind friendly tone, "No matter who he is, can you invite him to have dinner at home?"
"No!"
Felicity refused firmly.
Seeing Felicity's indifferent attitude, Stanley made a heartbroken face and said, "Felice, my child! How come you still have no manners?"
"Are you done? Don't waste my time if there's nothing else!”
Felicity’s tone was still cold and indifferent.
This was the attitude that Stanley should have kept too.
Seeing him put on a hypocritical sugary smile really made Felicity nauseous.
"Fine! If that’s what you want. Then go and see your mother."
Stanley threatened Felicity with Sarah again.
"I don’t need you to remind me. I am already going!"
Felicity snapped. Regardless of Stanley's attitude, she left the villa and went directly to the hospital.
