Chapter 12 

He turned to his desk, opened his computer, and began working. 

In the days that followed, Nolan acted as if nothing had happened. 

He ate meals with Evangeline, went shopping, watched movies, and even shared photos of them on social media with captions like “Having you for the rest of my life is enough.” 

Evangeline smiled sweetly, holding his arm, her eyes filled with happiness. “Nolan, you’ve been so good to 

me lately.” 

Nolan glanced down at her, his lips curving into a faint smile. “You’re my future wife. It’s my duty.” 

Evangeline’s smile brightened as she leaned against his shoulder, as if she were the happiest woman in 

the world. 

Seeing Nolan’s change, his father sighed with relief. 

He patted Nolan’s shoulder, his tone satisfied. “Nolan, you’ve finally forgot her. Evangeline is a wonderful girl. You two will be happyniess.” 

Nolan nodded, maintaining a subtle smile. “Don’t worry, Dad. We will.” 

Only Nolan himself knew how much he was suffering inside. 

In the quiet hours of the night, he couldn’t help thinking about Aurelia. 

Her smile, her tears, her tenderness, her betrayal. 

These memories were like knives repeatedly cutting into his heart, causing excruciating pain. 

Then one day, he received an invitation to a class reunion. 

Nolan stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, holding the invitation, his brow slightly furrowed. 

He hadn’t planned to attend. Those memories of his youth had been sealed away, and he had no desire to 

revisit them. 

However, Evangeline approached him excitedly, taking his arm with a playful tone. “Nolan, it’s been so long since we’ve seen our classmates. Let’s go together, shall we? We don’t have anything else planned.” 

Nolan looked down at her, seeing the anticipation in her eyes.

After a moment of silence, he finally nodded. “Fine, we’ll go together.” 

The reunion was held in a private room at an upscale restaurant. 

By the time Nolan and Evangeline arrived, the room was full. Their classmates stood to greet them, faces bright with welcoming smiles. 

“Nolan, Evangeline, you made it! What a perfect couple you are!” The class president approached them, his voice full of flattery. 

Evangeline smiled sweetly, holding Nolan’s arm as if she were the luckiest woman alive. Nolan merely nodded, his expression neutral 

The atmosphere quickly grew lively as everyone drank, talked, and reminisced about their youthful adventures. 

Nolan sat in the corner, holding a glass of wine he hadn’t touched. 

“Mr. Campus Heartthrob, why so quiet?” The class president suddenly came over, slapping Nolan’s shoulder with a laugh. “Has it been so long that you’ve grown distant from us?” 

Nolan smiled faintly. “Not at all. I’m just enjoying listening to everyone.” 

The president laughed heartily, then pulled a stack of envelopes from his bag. “Hey, remember those letters we wrote to our future selves ten years ago? It’s been exactly ten years today! I’ve brought them all–let’s see if we’ve achieved our dreams!” 

The room erupted in cheers as everyone gathered around, eager to read their past “grand declarations.” 

Evangeline approached excitedly, snatching an envelope addressed from Nolan. 

“Nolan, let me see what you wrote back then!” She laughed as she opened the envelope, her eyes falling 

on the letter. 

Her smile quickly froze. The page was filled with dense writing, and every line, every word, was about 

Aurelia. 

“To Nolan, ten years from now 

If you’re reading this letter, I hope you still remember Aurelia Thorne. 

That girl with the radiant smile, the girl you swore to protect for life, the girl you loved more than anyone. 

Are you married now? Was your wedding held in Tibet as planned? She always said she wanted to marry in the sacred place beneath Celestial Mountain, to have all the spirits witness your love.

She abruptly looked up at Nolan, her voice quavering. “Nolan…” 

Nolan’s gaze fell on the letter, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
