Chapter 443 The Victim
This was a business banquet.
It was held on the 98th floor of Sheraton, the highest one in Salt Lake City.
All the participants of this banquet were celebrities in the business world of Salt Lake City.
When Viola and Ormand appeared at the banquet hand in hand, Ronian just came out of the elevator on the other side with Sherlyn.
The four people met at the entrance.
Ormand worked in the National Bureau of Investigation and was Ronian’s superior.
Ronian bowed respectfully at the sight of Ormand. “Good evening, Mr. Hobson.”
Ormand nodded coldly in response.
Sherlyn saw Viola and wanted to run over, but Ronian pulled Sherlyn back in time.
“Sherlyn, there are people, so don’t forget your manners.”
Sherlyn failed to have a word with Viola, so she lowered her head with disappointment.
Instantly, Viola let go of Ormand’s arm. She walked over, pulled Sherlyn, and looked at Ronian apologetically.
“Mr. Felton, do you mind if I want Sherlyn to go to the bathroom with me?”
Ronian narrowed his eyes, glanced at Ormand, and then answered with a smile, “Of course not! How can I refuse Mrs. Hobson?”
Hearing this, Viola pulled Sherlyn away.
Two men were left waiting at the entrance of the banquet.
When they were far away, Viola asked Sherlyn, “Why did you come with Ronian? Did you join the Felton family?”
Sherlyn nodded. “Yes, after deliberation, I still want to go home. That is the life I am supposed to lead.”
Viola comforted Sherlyn by patting the back of her hand. “Not a bad decision. You are supposed to be Ms. Felton. What you suffered is an accident. From now on, you are not alone. You have a group of siblings.”
Speaking of her siblings, Sherlyn looked gloomy.
She grabbed Viola’s hand at the thought of Pamela.
“During my stay, I found something wrong in the Felton family. That day, I dined with my mother and saw red marks on her wrist when her sleeve rolled up accidentally. She got injured.
“Because Ronian did not go home in the next two days, I didn’t have the chance to see my mother again. Probably, she did not want to see me. She was cold to me. Because of Ronian, she was polite to me as she was a stranger.
“Viola, I found a lot of weird things in the Felton family, but Ronian took my phone away with excuses for the past two days. Please tell Russell what happened to me. He will do the investigation for me.”
Viola listened carefully and then patted the back of Sherlyn’s hand again. “Don’t worry. I will tell Russell everything in detail.”
Viola felt confused.
“Ronian is the head of the Felton family now, Mrs. Felton is his biological mother. Why did Ronian let his mother get injured?”
Sherlyn pondered for a moment and then shook her head. “My mother lives on the top floor. That floor is locked up at night. I will go there for a look after Ronian puts down his guard.”
“Be careful.”
“Okay.”
Viola and Sherlyn headed back after exchanging a few more words.
Ormand and Ronian were still waiting at the entrance.
Sherlyn lowered her head and said perfunctorily, “Mr. Hacker is handsome with an extraordinary bearing. He must be an excellent businessman.”
This praise pleased James.
“Ms. Felton, you are perceptive. By the way, I am considerate and will be good to my woman.”
Speaking, Ronian stretched out his hand to hold Sherlyn’s.
Sherlyn decisively hid behind Ronian, and there was vigilance on her flushed face.
“Mr. Hacker, I have a boyfriend. If my boyfriend knew this, he would be unhappy.”
James smiled awkwardly and retracted his hand.
After James left, Ronian whispered to Sherlyn, “Don’t you think Mr. Hacker will be a better choice for you than Russell?”
“What do you mean?”
Sherlyn took a step backward and looked at Ronian with shock. “Russell and I are in a relationship. Why did you ask such a question?”
Ronian smiled. “Come on! Relax. Mr. Hacker told me yesterday that he would give us 15% shares of the Hacker Group as part of your betrothal gifts if you married him. I haven’t agreed yet. I was just asking.”
Sherlyn did not trust Ronian at all. She took another step away from him.
“What shares? They are worthless to me. If you agree, I will cut off all ties with the Felton family forever!”
Sherlyn was firm. “If you want to sacrifice someone for your business, go talk with Jennifer. I love Russell.”
Ronian shook his head and then analyzed the pros and cons for Sherlyn. “The McGraw family is stronger than the Hacker family, but Viola is the head of the McGraw family. The McGraw Group belongs to Viola. Even if Russell wants to marry you, he can’t take out the 10% share of the McGraw Group to be your betrothal gift. He doesn’t have the final say.”
Sherlyn stared at Ronian in shock. “You think the shares are more important than my happiness, don’t you? Russell can’t give me the shares, but he will make up for it with something good. You brought me to this banquet and introduced me to your business partners to sell me in exchange for shares!”
