After the dinner party, several more of Frank's friends arrived for the second half of the evening.
And there was an unexpected guest.
This was the first time I had seen Luke, the illegitimate son of the Smith family. He was dressed in a black suit and pushed open the door to the private room. Leaning against the door, his face, which bore a slight resemblance to Frank's, wore a sinister expression. He tapped his fingers on the door.
Frank's expression remained unchanged, as if he was completely unaware of the person's presence. He casually played a card. "Four of spades."
"Six of diamonds," said Zachary.
“Looks like I win again,” said Frank with a satisfied look on his face.
"Damn, are you cheating or what?" exclaimed Charlie.
The remaining two players were speechless.
They were playing high stakes, and Frank ended up with a seven-figure win.
Zachary chuckled. "Looks like your girlfriend is bringing you good luck."
"Probably." Frank's modesty was contradicted by the smile in his eyes.
Jane, while shuffling the cards, complained, "Charlotte, can you believe this? Stealing you is one thing, but now he's stealing my money too."
"Betting comes with the risk of losing." Frank smiled lightly, generously offering. "However, Charlie can cover your store's rent."
"Frank, your ability to give away other people's stuff is impressive," said Charlie.
"So what?" Frank countered.
Charlie glanced at Jane and said generously, "Of course it's fine. Since this is the first time meeting Charlotte, consider this a welcome gift."
"Thank you, Mr. Lennox!" Jane smiled at him, "Mr. Lennox, you are so generous. You clearly have the makings of someone who can achieve great things, unlike those pampered rich kids."
