I took back the phone and went to the balcony to dial Simone’s number.

alive…”

“Are you sure?” she asked incredulously. 

“Am I sure?” I almost didn’t hesitate and looked at the time. “It’s seven now. Before ten, you need to bring the antidote and the agreement to the hospital. I’ll be here all the time. Will that be alright?” 

Simone readily agreed, saying confidently, “Of course, no problem.” 

After hanging up the phone and returning to the ward, Frank looked at me and, without waiting for me to speak, had already guessed what I had done.
