Chapter 153 Carley Coughed Up Blood

Holding the phone, I paused for a moment, looked at Rachel, and then said into the phone, “Sister-in-law, where are you now?”

“In the old house.”

I nodded, saying, “In that case, I’ll come to find you in a bit. Wait for me.”

Emma grunted in agreement.

After hanging up the phone, I looked at Rachel, feeling somewhat guilty. Before I could even speak, she furrowed her brows and said, “Tabatha, are you going to leave me behind to go find someone else again?”

Looking at her aggrieved expression, I held back my laughter and said, “Carley woke up and said she wanted to eat rice wine porridge. Sister- in-law of Walter doesn’t know how to make it, so she asked me to guide her. After all, Carley is an elder and is still in the hospital, I can’t just ignore her.”

She wore a face of distress, let out a long sigh, paused, and then said, “Walter’s sister-in-law? William’s wife?”

I nodded, lowering my head to search for the keys in my bag.

She continued, “Is she easy to get along with? Is she beautiful?”

Finding the car keys, I looked up at her and said, “Beautiful, gentle, virtuous, and knowledgeable, especially easy to get along with. Why are you suddenly asking about this? I’ve never seen you so curious before.”

She gave a dry laugh and said, “Not at all, I just think that Mr. William Hinton is so gentlemanly and handsome, his wife must be a very good person, otherwise, how could she be worthy of him?”

I couldn’t help but frown, looking at her, saying, “William saved you once, and his evaluation in your heart is so high?”

She hummed and stopped talking to me, pushing me slightly and said, “Alright, alright, you better go now, don’t keep people waiting too long.”

After parting with Rachel, I went straight to the Hinton family’s old house, Emma was in the kitchen, accompanied by two slightly chubby chefs. Seeing her fiddling around, they exchanged glances, trying to step forward to help.

But it seemed to be of no use. A bowl of rice wine porridge was not a big deal, but it posed a challenge for both chefs.

“Sister-in-law,” I called out to Emma.

Hearing my voice, Emma turned around, her face full of joy, and laughed, “Tabatha, you’re finally here. I’ve tried several times with the two masters just now, but it just doesn’t taste like what you made. I don’t know if something is missing.”

Saying so, she pointed at several bowls of rice wine porridge on the table, which indeed seemed to have been tried many times.

Upon seeing it, I smiled and took a taste. It was all quite delicious. On the basis of what they had prepared, I added some potato starch to thicken it, and also added some lemon juice for good measure.

Upon seeing this, Emma frowned and said, “Wouldn’t it be too sour to add lemon juice? Rice wine is already a bit sour and sweet, wouldn’t it be strange to add lemon flavor?”

I smiled and let her take a sip. After she took a small sip, she hesitated. for a moment and said, “It seems a bit sour, but it also feels very sweet. How strange.”

“Grandma is old, her sense of taste is not as sensitive as ours, adding too much rice wine is not good for the patient, so I added citric acid which has a more obvious taste, it made it more delicious for her to eat.” After saying that, I found a takeaway box and packed the prepared rice wine porridge.

Emma nodded, her face gentle as she said, “I’ve learned. Next time I cook for grandma, I won’t need to call you from so far away.”

I smiled faintly, originally wanting to say that grandma could call me anytime she wanted a drink in the future, but considering that Walter and I were about to get divorced, it seemed I couldn’t be at her beck and call.

So I could only laugh and leave the Hinton’s house with her, heading straight for the hospital.

Outside the hospital corridor, when Emma and I arrived, we saw several doctors hurriedly entering Carley’s ward one after another.
