Chapter 201 Stepping Up to Be the Third Wheel?
So, I simply didn’t say much.
”
After a bit of small talk, I was ready to leave.
He spoke, “Ms. Conner, were you available next week?”
I blurted out subconsciously, “I don’t know yet, what’s wrong?”
He smiled slightly, “That’s right, Daniel has been recuperating, and it’s boring to stay at home every day. I want to take him out for a walk, but I don’t know where to go. You’re a local in River City, so I was thinking, if you have time, could you show us around River City?”
I paused for a moment, then laughed, “I did grow up here since I was a child, but I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’m not good at having fun. There are many places to play in River City, but I’ve hardly been to any of them.” At this point, I couldn’t help but recall the vacation island that Emma had mentioned earlier. “The temperature in River City has been quite low recently, so it’s not suitable for outdoor activities. You could take Mr. Monroe to Springbury. There’s a vacation island there and the climate is quite nice.”
“Are you going as well?” Sebastian asked, his attractive eyes shining brightly as he looked at me.
I shook my head, smiling faintly, “I can’t say for sure about my schedule next week, I can’t promise you anything in advance right now. We’ll have to see when the time comes. If I don’t have any plans then, I’ll go with you guys.”
“Alright, let’s settle it then,” Sebastian spoke, his smile somewhat radiant. “I’ll talk to Daniel later.” He was young, usually maintaining a
serious face when chatting with him. Seeing him smile now, he looked exceptionally handsome. He was naturally good-looking, exuding a youthful vibe that inevitably lifted one’s spirits.
I unconsciously started to laugh and nodded.
After discussing the matter, he didn’t bother me with questions. anymore. After saying goodbye, I watched him leave towards another direction of the community.
Just as I was about to return to Rachel’s apartment, my peripheral vision involuntarily caught a familiar black Bentley outside the complex. It was the Hinton family’s car.
The black Bentley didn’t enter the residential complex, it just stopped outside. The car had been parked for a while before the passenger door was finally opened. Perhaps the woman was reluctant to leave, after opening the passenger door, she turned back and kissed the man in the driver’s seat before reluctantly getting out of the car.
The expression on the man’s face was too far away for me to see clearly. All I knew was that after he furrowed his brows and said something to the woman, he started the car and left.
Watching the Bentley drive away, the woman slowly turned and entered the residential area. I stood at the door, silently watching, my heart sinking to the bottom of the sea.
When she found me, Rachel obviously paused for a moment, then pretended as if nothing had happened, looking at me and asking, “Are you waiting for me here? Have you had dinner?”
Tlooked at her, without saying a word.
Seeing me not speaking, she lifted the pastry in her hand and said, “I saw it on the way back, knew you liked it, so I bought it. I’m good to you, aren’t I?”
I still didn’t speak, just watched her.
She reached out to grab me, but I dodged. Seeing this, she furrowed her brows, “What’s wrong with you? I didn’t upset you, did I?”
“The person in the car, it’s William, right?” I spoke, a chill in my voice.
She pursed her lips, her eyebrows furrowed as she said, “So it’s him, why are you overreacting? I was just out shopping, ran into him on the way and he just gave me a lift home. What are you thinking?”
I looked at her, a certain indescribable feeling in my heart. I took a slight breath and asked, “Was it a coincidence or did you intentionally arrange to meet?”
She spoke, “What a coincidence, why would I lie to you.”
I pursed my lips, stopped speaking, and turned to walk silently towards her apartment.
