Chapter 219 Have You No Shame?

In such cases, it was best to refuse outright, after all, I really couldn’t change Walter’s mind.

Emma opened her mouth, paused for a few seconds, and said, “Tabatha, are you still mad at Gianna?”

I was speechless, couldn’t help but hold my forehead, looking at her and said, “Sister-in-law, I really don’t.” After a few seconds, I said, “Actually, Walter and I have already divorced. We signed the divorce agreement a month ago. Now, I have long been separated from him. It’s just because of my grandmother’s illness that we haven’t made it public. As soon as my grandmother’s condition improves, our divorce will also be made public. So, what I just told you is the truth.”

She froze, looking at me with surprise and confusion. “Divorced? Why? Between you two…” She paused for a few seconds before continuing, “Because of the incident on grandma’s birthday, when you lost your child?”

I pursed my lips, tugged at the corner of my mouth, paused for a moment and said, “It’s not entirely true. Perhaps he and I were never meant to live together. Even if that day’s incident hadn’t happened, we might have divorced sooner or later. It was just a matter of time.” How could two people who didn’t love each other possibly make do?

It was merely a matter of time.

Emma fell silent.

“Mom.” Hermosa came back after playing for a while, holding her phone and calling out to Emma.

Emma looked at her, “What’s wrong?

Hermosa, in her early teens, looked at us with her delicate little face, seemingly wanting to say something but hesitating. After a pause, she finally said, “A lady just called my dad, she said she wants to meet him.”

For a moment, Emma didn’t react. She looked at her and said, “See him if you want to see him. Just give the phone back to dad and tell him. Why are you looking for me…” Towards the end, Emma’s voice trailed off.

The color of his face also stiffened a bit, looking at Hermosa whose face had turned a few shades paler.

My heart skipped a beat, instinctively thinking of Rachel. Didn’t she. say she wouldn’t contact William again? How did she find Emma?

Emma’s face was stiff, and it was several seconds later before she looked at Hermosa and said, “Give me the phone.”

After speaking, she didn’t wait for Hermosa to hand over the phone. She directly snatched the phone from Hermosa’s hand, opened the contact list, and prepared to dial out.

The call I made was unanswered.

She frowned at Hermosa and asked, “Was this the phone number that just called?”

Hermosa nodded.

Seeing that Emma’s complexion wasn’t good, Hermosa lowered her head and said softly, “She hung up as soon as she finished speaking, I didn’t even get to ask who that aunt was.”

The atmosphere suddenly became indescribably oppressive for a

moment.

I subconsciously took a few more glances at the number Emma dialed, it wasn’t Rachel’s.

For a moment, she couldn’t help but feel suspicious in her heart. Could it be that she had called from another phone number?

In doubt, a deep male voice sounded, “Emma, Hermosa, what are you guys doing over here?”

Upon hearing the sound, we all looked in its direction. It was William from the Hinton family. All the brothers in the Hinton family were exceptionally good-looking, but William had a touch more gentleness and amiability than Walter.

It looked even more likable and approachable.

Seeing him approach, Hermosa glanced at Emma, hesitated, then handed her phone to Walter, her voice soft and sweet, “Dad, a lady called for you just now.”

She didn’t say the rest, but even though the child was young, she probably knew a lot of things.
