Chapter 269 On the Verge of Eruption

How did the reporter come?

The flower was tucked into my arms by Daniel. The long-lost fragrance of the flower made me involuntarily feel a bit happier. Yes, I like flowers, especially the scent of them makes me very happy.

However, it seemed I had never spoken to anyone about it.

Without giving it much thought, I looked at Daniel and said, “Mr. Monroe, how did you get here?”

Daniel, seemingly oblivious to others, looked at me with a charming smile and said, “I came to pick you up, to take you to eat something delicious.”

Eh, I unconsciously glanced at Walter who was next to me. The man’s face was very gloomy, clearly showing his displeasure.

I had a bit of a headache. Could these two have arranged this in advance?

There were still reporters outside taking pictures, the ex-husband and…

It was hard not to overthink Daniel’s actions, especially for netizens with wild imaginations.

Looking at Daniel, I forced a smile and said, “Thank you for the flowers, Mr. Monroe, I…”

“Let’s go then, I brought you some dessert. You must be craving for it after being inside for so long, right?” Daniel didn’t give me a chance to speak. His handsome, impeccable face, coupled with his exceptionally

sweet smile, left me dazed for a few seconds.

Even when he held onto my neighbor, I didn’t react for a moment. It wasn’t until he was pulling me away, and as we passed Walter, my other wrist was grabbed by Walter, that I suddenly came to my senses, frozen in place.

Seeing that I wasn’t leaving, Daniel turned to look at me. After a moment, his gaze fell on Walter. The man’s dark eyes slightly squinted as he asked, “Does Mr. Hinton have any other matters?”

Walter had not spoken up. He had always been gentle and indifferent, never one to wear his emotions on his sleeve. At this moment, his handsome face showed little expression, as he looked at Daniel indifferently and asked, “Where does Mr. Monroe intend to take my wife?”

Upon hearing his words, Daniel raised an eyebrow and laughed, saying, “Wife? Mr. Hinton, you must be joking. The news of your divorce from Ms. Conner was announced a while ago. Everyone should still remember it vividly.”

This remark clearly displeased Walter. He slightly furrowed his brows, suppressed his temper, and said, “This matter has nothing to do with you.”

Daniel seemed to have a habit of pushing his luck. Looking at Walter, he fearlessly said, “What? Did Ms. Conner divorce you unilaterally? Or…” He paused for a few seconds before continuing, “Or did the Hinton family, upon seeing Ms. Conner in trouble, fear that she would drag you down, so you kicked her aside to protect yourselves? Now that things are clear, you need her, and you remember that she is your wife?”

After speaking, he couldn’t help but sneer sarcastically, “Ha, the Hinton family, such a large clan, really knows how to judge the

situation!”

This remark was blunt and sarcastic.

His voice wasn’t loud, but the entrance of the police station was quiet and spacious. Plus, the reporters who were originally gathered outside were here for news. In order to trend, they wished they could hear every single word of the conversation here clearly.

For a moment, the atmosphere was particularly tense.

After two years of marriage, I deeply knew that Walter was not a good- tempered man. He was usually dignified and elegant, acting with restraint, but that did not mean he did not have a terrifying side.

After all, it’s impossible for a person to be perfect.

Watching Walter’s motionless black eyes staring at Daniel’s mocking face, I was afraid that if anything happened between the two here, it would indeed become sensational news throughout the city and even the country.

I quickly looked at Daniel and began to speak, “Mr. Monroe…”
