Chapter 278 Going to Dracview
Daniel didn’t say much, he just sat silently beside me, watching me anxiously making continuous phone calls, only speaking up to urge Sebastian to hurry up.
The journey to Dracview, which originally took four hours, was completed by Sebastian in less than three hours.
It was already noon when I arrived at Dracview. The small county town îvas not as bustling as the city, but the natural scenery was nice. However, I was not in the mood to appreciate the scenery at that time.
Upon reaching the city, Sebastian filled up at a gas station and then turned to me and Daniel, saying, “Mr. Monroe, Ms. Conner, I just inquired about it. Mount Snake is quite far from here, and it’s all mountain roads. Due to natural disasters, the mountain has been closed off. We might not be able to go up the mountain.”
I was silent for a moment, looking at Daniel, I said, “Thank you for bringing me here. I’ll figure out a way to go into the mountains later, you guys can go back!”
I didn’t mean anything else by my words. I genuinely felt that they shouldn’t continue to accompany me on this risky journey. After all, the mountain had collapsed, which could easily trigger other natural disasters. One misstep could mean no return.
After all, I was just a passing acquaintance with them, I shouldn’t have brought them along with me.
But Sebastian thought I was angry because of his words, and quickly said, “Ms. Conner, that’s not what I meant. I was trying to say that we might need to make some preparations before we go into the
mountains. The mountain road is not like any other, even if we drive, we might not be able to get into the mountains before dark. It’s already noon now, and both you and the gentleman haven’t eaten anything. How about we go get something to cat, and then I’ll go to the
supermarket to buy some essential items for the mountains, just in
case.”
After he hurriedly said so much in a row, he looked at Daniel somewhat flustered, fearing that he had done something wrong.
Daniel didn’t react much, instead he looked at me and said, “He’s right, you just got out of the hospital, your body hasn’t recovered yet, it’s too dangerous to rashly go into the mountains. It gets cold here at night. we need to make some preparations, at least fill our stomachs, otherwise, if we haven’t found your mother yet, we might collapse halfway.”
I wanted to speak up and ask them to leave, but Daniel didn’t give me a chance to speak. Instead, he looked directly at Sebastian and said, “See if there’s anywhere nearby where we can eat.”
Sebastian nodded, responding, “I just checked, there’s a tavern up ahead, Mr. Monroe, would you like to go there?”
Daniel looked at me, his gaze filled with inquiry.
I nodded, anxious inside, with no mind to think about these things.
Upon seeing this, Daniel glanced at Sebastian, which was considered as his tacit agreement.
The car stopped outside the restaurant, and we all went in together. I wasn’t sure if it was because the town was small and not many people were around, but the restaurant was quite empty. We found a private room and sat down. The waiter handed over the menu, but I wasn’t in the mood to order, so I passed it to Daniel.

Seeing this, Daniel patiently started to look at the menu and ordered a few dishes. Truth be told, it was hard for him. He had been living in Freyhedge for many years and was not familiar with the inland cuisine. If it weren’t for my distraction, I really shouldn’t have let him order.
Sebastian just came in with us and left shortly after greeting us. He didn’t return even when the dishes were served. It was only when I asked that I found out he had gone to prepare the resources needed for going into the mountains.
I felt somewhat guilty because due to my affairs, he didn’t even have time to eat a full meal and was busy preparing everywhere. However, if I were to voice this out, it would inevitably seem pretentious and artificial, and it wouldn’t serve any purpose.
So, I had no choice but to suppress this guilt in my heart, secretly remembering to repay it in the future.
I didn’t have much of an appetite, and Daniel didn’t eat much either. Seeing that I didn’t eat, he didn’t say much more, but just asked the waiter to pack some food for the journey.
After leaving the restaurant, Sebastian had already put quite a few things in the trunk. Seeing us come out, he quickly finished his boxed meal, threw the box into the trash can, and said to me and Daniel, “Mr. Monroe, Ms. Conner, I just inquired. Although the main road into the mountain has been closed, there is still a mountain road we can take.”
“Alright, let’s go!” Daniel spoke, opening the car door for me.
