Chapter 281 Earthquake?

Interrupted by him like this, the words that were on the tip of

Sebastian’s tongue were forcibly suppressed. Reluctantly, he spat out a single word, “Fine!”

Seeing the way these two people interacted, I truly found it strange.

But it wasn’t that strange, after all, Daniel was Sebastian’s immediate boss. Even if they were friends, the difference in their status was too great, and it was impossible for them to interact as true friends.

Thinking this way, I didn’t say anything more.

I had been fussing around since morning, for over a dozen hours straight. My nerves had been on edge the whole time. Everyone has their limits. After exchanging a few words with them and diverting my attention, fatigue came rushing at me.

The fire in front of me was indeed warm, and the sound of the rain outside was particularly hypnotic. Before long, I fell asleep.

I had a restless sleep. When I woke up, the sound of the rain outside was still ongoing. Daniel was leaning with his eyes closed nearby, and Sebastian was adding the only firewood we had. Seeing me awake, he looked at me and lowered his voice, “Did I wake you?”

I shook my head, noticing there was no firewood-left. I looked towards the outside of the cave, the sky was still dark, and it was still raining. The rain seemed a bit lighter than it was last night.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Did it rain all night last night?”

He nodded, “The journey today might be tough, the day hasn’t fully

broken yet. I’ll go out first to gather some firewood. Let Mr. Monroe sleep a bit more. When he wakes up, we’ll eat something before we set off.”

Seeing the dark circles around his eyes, it seemed that he didn’t sleep much last night. I couldn’t help but say, “You rest a bit more, I’ll go look.”

He held me, pulling a smile towards me and said, “You stay, it’s not completely bright outside, and there are mountains all around. It’s not safe for you, a girl, to go out. I’ll go.”

After speaking, he didn’t wait for me to say anything and just left.

I truly felt guilty in my heart. Originally, this was just my issue. Because of me, they came along, suffering with me. I only had a few brief encounters with them, yet they were willing to help me like this.

Thinking in this way, I felt increasingly indebted in my heart.

I secretly vowed in my heart that I would definitely treat them as true friends in the future.

My mind had wandered off when Daniel beside me shifted slightly. I thought he had woken up. Glancing sideways, I found that he had merely moved a bit, furrowed his brows, and then became still again.

Looking at him, I raised my hand to touch his forehead, wanting to check his temperature. Unexpectedly, as soon as I made contact, he suddenly opened his eyes.

Meeting his alert and stern gaze, I was taken aback.

Upon seeing me, his gaze softened slightly. After scanning the room and not finding Sebastian, he asked in a somewhat hoarse voice, “Awake?”

40 Vouchers

I nodded, snapping back from the shock I had just experienced, thinking to myself how incredibly alert this person was, even sleeping with such a high level of guard up.

She took a slight breath, still worried about his fever not subsiding, and asked him, “Are you feeling better?”

After speaking, I couldn’t help but raise my hand to touch his forehead, only to find that it seemed to be burning even more severely. I frowned and said, “You took medicine last night, why is it still so hot?”

He looked at me, didn’t avoid, let me do as I pleased, his gaze gentle as he said, “It’s okay, it will be fine in a moment.”

His voice was filled with fatigue. Seeing this, I rummaged through the medicine box that Sebastian had brought in last night, trying to find the cold medicine to give him another dose.
