Chapter 210 But what if you can’t find your way out?
Idris glanced around, clearly not quite understanding what I said, then mumbled an ‘oh‘ and stumbled out of the car. I steadied him as we made our way into the yard of Clearwater Residence.
It had been a while since I had been here. Two years living in this place, and it all felt so familiar yet so foreign.
When he stopped in his tracks again, I sighed, used to his antics by now. “What’s up now?” I asked, bracing myself for more drama.
The man stood by the pool, lost in thought, when out of the blue, he started peeling off his clothes. It was barely above freezing, and there he was, stripping down. I lunged to stop him. “ What in the world are you doing?!”
In this chilly air, he would be lucky to escape without frostbite.
He frowned, those perfect eyebrows knitting together, and gave me this innocent puppy–dog look. “But we’re home, right? Can’t I take a bath and hit the hay?”
I glanced at the pool water, a mix of amusement and disbelief washing over me. That
explained his fixation on the pool–he had actually planned to bathe in it.
Sighing deeply, I was past the point of lecturing. “Go inside and use hot water, okay? You’ll catch a cold out here.”
He gave me those doe eyes and smiled. “Alright, I’ll do as my wife says.”
Wife? Did he just…
Was he mixing up his words or what?
I ushered him into the villa’s grand entrance, planning to leave as soon as he was safe inside.
Out of sheer decency, and knowing he might just wander back out for a midnight swim, I decided to see it through and led him to his room.
I was about to nudge him into the bathroom when he spun around, all serious. “Yvette.”
I stopped in my tracks, puzzled. “What’s up?”
We had not been in this room, our old honeymoon suite, for ages. It felt like stepping back in
time.
His voice was raspy. “You’re not coming in?”
I blinked, thrown off. Was he sobering up, or still tipsy? He’d been so out of it just a moment
ago…
His stare pinned me in place, and I managed a weak smile. “It’s late. I’m heading out. Get some rest, okay?”
Drunk or not, I had done my part. He was home, and that was my cue to bow out.
I had just finished speaking when I spun around to leave, but the sound of rushed footsteps stopped me cold. Before I knew it, my wrist was grabbed, and I was pulled into a tight embrace from behind. His voice, heavy with the scent of alcohol, was close to my ear, “Where do you

think you’re going without me?”

His voice was deep, almost magnetic, and it sounded like he was hurt. I froze, not sure how to
react.
“Idris, you need to let go,” I said, trying to wriggle free from the iron grip around my He did not loosen his hold. In fact, he held me closer, his chin on my shoulder as he said stubbornly, “No, don’t go.”
