"Who are you?" I ask cautiously as I continue my way down the stairs. I stand on the last step, just in case he turned out to be completely crazy and I had to run back up the stairs.
"Octavia? You're awake?" He sends a large smile my way and places the box by the door.
"H-how do you know my name?" I stutter over my words as I'm a little taken back. Who is this man? Why does he know me?
"Don't worry sweetie, I'm not gunna hurt you. I'm here for the exact opposite reason actually." He smiles a little bit and runs his hand through his dark chocolate brown locks.
"Where's the box?" His voice shocked me and caused me to jump out of my skin a little. I turn back to look at him and he stood on the stair case a few steps above me.
"She seems a little jumpy," The mystery man stated, ignoring Ajax's question. "Is everything going okay?"
Ajax cleared his throat and made his way down the steps. I shy away from him when he passes by me and watch as he whispers to his friend. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I realized I could easily tune into the conversation with my wolf hearing.
"They were asking a lot of questions about her."
"What kind of questions?"
"If she was in good health. If they could possibly visit her."
Ajax huffs out in anger. "And her parents sealed the box before you arrived this time?"
"Yes."
"My parents?" I ask stepping down from staircase. I bite my lip once I realize I wasn't supposed to hear that. They were talking in private.
Ajax turns around to face me. His normally ocean blue eyes were a few shades darker. "Yes your stupid fucking parents. Didn't they ever teach you that ease dropping is rude?"
I flinch at his tone and bow my head in submission. Cipher was no longer around and the mystery man seems loyal to Ajax and would never say anything about him hitting me to Alexander. He doesn't know that there will be consequences. So I stay silent and wait for Ajax to turn around.
But he doesn't. He continues to stare at me. I can feel his eyes on me, moving up and down my body. "Come here ugly duckling." He teases.
I swallow the lump in my throat and lift my head up and walk over to him. I'm staring straight at his broad and muscular chest. "Why are you down here in the first place?"
"You-You instructed me to get something to eat and then go to bed. I-I haven't eaten anything since breakfast."
