202 I Hate Being Threatened
Anna‘s eyes widened and her jaw dropped. It took her a while to regain her composure and ask, “What are you talking about? Did
you really tell her that?”
“Oh, it seems you weren‘t around her at that time,” Andrew said as he looked at her.
Anna clenched her fist and thought, Damn it! Peace, you lied to me again! No wonder you kept telling me that Andrew was a weirdo,
and told me to get fully prepared! You didn‘t even try to tell me what Cooper had told you on the phone!
Anna felt that if Peace had not been in the hospital at that time, she would have called her and yelled at her. Nonetheless, she forced
herself to speak with Cooper.
“Mr. Cooper, you know, it took me a long time to get here. So, can we at least talk about it? Don‘t worry. I‘ll only take up a few
minutes of your time. You can just simply ask for what you want.”
Anna said with a smile on her face. But, in her mind, she was cursing Peace at that moment.
“You don‘t have to do that, Miss Gabriel. Like I said, I don‘t want anything from you, and I‘m happy with my life now.”
“Oh, I see what you mean. Mr. Cooper, If you don‘t want to do it, we won‘t try to persuade you any longer. Anyway, do you mind if we take a look around your place?” Wayne asked. Then, he tugged on Anna‘s sleeve and told her to shut up.
“Oh, that‘s okay, make yourself at home. There‘s nothing worth seeing here.”
“I‘ve never been to a place like this before, and it intrigues me. Is it possible for me to get inside the house, please?”
Wayne had already stridden inside the house before Andrew could respond.
“I didn‘t allow you to get in!” Andrew followed him and said furiously. He was so enraged that he kicked over the broken chair at the
door.
All Wayne did was walk through the door and stand in the doorway. Andrew, on the other hand, stood in front of him with his arms
wide extended like a black eagle.
Anna became terrified as soon as she realized what was going on. Worried that they would fight, she immediately stepped between
them and said, “Mr. Cooper, please accept my apologies. You know, he didn‘t mean to do that. We‘ll be gone in a couple of minutes.
Anna glimpsed something on the table in the dimly lighted room before she could finish her sentence.
The table was covered with white or yellow drawing paper. On those papers, there were several clothing designs done with colored
pencils. Anna thought those designs were remarkable, despite the fact that none of the elements were identical to those seen in the
shows of major brands.
Anna didn‘t believe Peace at first when she said he was a genius. She soon realized, however, that she was correct.
Cooper had been living in this remote town for five years, so his designs were not influenced by the latest trends. As a result, those
designs were always unique and innovative.
“You‘ve been working on the designs, Mr. Cooper!” Anna raised her head, surprised, and said.
Probably because Anna was being blunt, Andrew got less enraged. He grimaced and grumbled, “I don‘t think it has anything to do
with you guys. All right, please get out of my house right now.”
“Mi Cooper, please listen to me. I know that perhaps your last boss did something to hurt you. But, I can assure you that such a thing
will never happen in my company. We only do original work, and we will never copy others. Also, we will not interfere with your work,
and you are free to do as you like.”
Anna suggested with utmost sincerity. She had heard Peace say that Andrew had quit his job because his previous boss had been
too eager to make money. When something went wrong with the clothes, however, he made the entire company blame Andrew. So,
Andrew quit his job and left the company because he was extremely disappointed.
Andrew said indifferently, “No, thanks, but I don‘t think that‘s necessary. I‘m not a dreamer, and your company isn‘t a charity. So, you know, the ideal and reality are always at odds. Then, one of us will fail at some point. So, I believe it‘s unnecessary.”
After saying this, he turned to collect the designs on the table and said, “Well, I think you can leave now.”
Anna was disappointed that Andrew was determined not to work for her.
Wayne stared at Anna before turning to Andrew and saying, “Hey, you can still live like this if you work in her company. You don‘t
have to move into town, and you just need to send us your manuscript. So, your life will hardly change that way.”
“There‘s no need for me to get myself into trouble.” Andrew responded as they both expected.
“Come on,” Anna whispered as she yanked Wayne‘s sleeve.
Anna disliked making others do things they didn‘t want to do. So, she believed she should stop pressuring Andrew because he clearly didn‘t want to work for her.
Wayne clenched his grip on her hand as well. He, on the other hand, stood like a statue in the doorway, as if nothing could make him
leave. He then said, “Of course, I‘m not coming here for no reason. Mr. Cooper, I‘ll turn Sea Town into a resort if you don‘t say yes.”
Andrew was sorting out his manuscript and immediately stopped when he heard Wayne‘s words. His expression immediately
became gloomy when he realized that Wayne was not joking. He said, “Well, you seem to be well prepared. Isn‘t it true that the grocery
shop owner told you about this?”
Anna immediately became embarrassed, thinking, Wayne, is this how you talk business? You‘re clearly threatening Andrew! I still
want to be friendly to him, even though I couldn‘t work with him.
“So, you would do that because of me?” Andrew scoffed.
He then slammed the manuscript on the table and shouted, “But I hate being threatened the most. You are free to take advantage of
this location as much as you desire, and I‘ll get out of here then. There are many other quiet places in this world!”
Anna believed she was being tricked by Wayne when she discovered the situation was becoming complicated. As a result, she smiled
and attempted to mediate.
Wayne interrupted her before she could say anything, “Oh, we want to build another resort, and I find this place really nice. I‘m the
