Skylar did not initiate things but waited for Tobias to make a move. However, the man merely lay on the bed even after she had waited for an eternity. He did not even hug or kiss her.
The instant he sensed her gaze on him, she hurriedly tore her eyes away, afraid he would see through her.
Alas, Tobias saw right through her.
He brushed his rough fingertips across her cheek. “I'm too tired tonight. Many people were there, and interacting with them was exhausting.”
Skylar had more or less gotten a rough idea of Tobias' familial relationship from Kai's occasional comment.
I'd really like to see what kind of familial relationship it is that could even exhaust someone like him. Could it be any worse than those few weirdos from Uncle Wesley's family?
Wrapping an arm around the man's waist, she rested her head against his chest.
“Rest early, then.”
In all honesty, Tobias loathed hugging each other to sleep. He found it utterly uncomfortable, either his arms or legs going numb.
Conversely, Skylar seemed to yearn for warmth. She loved to be hugged in sleep, and she would curl up on herself at times.
All those were signs of extreme insecurity.
With light and gentle movements, Tobias patted her on the back like a parent narrating his child a bedtime story. “Hurry up and sleep, Baby. Merry Christmas. It's going to be another year soon.”
He had wanted to ask her about the matter Judy spoke about, but ultimately, he chose to remain silent. He believed in her, trusting that she had her own reasons for doing whatever she did.
There's no point in me questioning her. Besides, other people's life has nothing to do with me. I've got no sympathy for Judy when she's righteously indignant for a friend!
