It was not as though Skylar had never heard the complaints of Jeremy and their mutual friends. They described her as a good-for-nothing to make people believe that she was unworthy of even lifting Jeremy's shoes and that the reason for their breakup was that she cheated on him. Jeremy, on the other hand, played the role of a great lover, convincing people that he was a good man and she was undeserving of his affection.

Later, he even fabricated a story about her begging him desperately to stay, claiming that she kept pleading for them to reconcile and even knelt before him out of desperation not to break up.

Skylar left the restroom to find that Penelope had been waiting for her outside the whole time. The latter swiftly said after checking Skylar from head to toe to make sure that she was unharmed, “I saw Grace following you into the restroom. Are you all right? She didn't grab or scratch you, did she? It wouldn't be something to be proud of if you two got into a fight in the restroom over a guy. The whole company is already aware of this. If you say that you fought for Tobias, that's understandable, but if you got innocently involved because of Jeremy, what a terrible injustice it would be for you.”

“It's not that scary. After all, she's still a trainee. She can't possibly fight with me if she wants to stay in the company. However, it could also happen if Jeremy is fanning the flames from the side. If Tobias could master just a little of Jeremy's ways with women, I'd surely be hopelessly in love with him. Tobias doesn't know how to make women happy at all,” Skylar replied.

Penelope let out a soft sigh before she teased, “I don't think you'll be able to get rid of Jeremy in this lifetime. Why can't he leave you alone? It has been a long time since you two broke up, yet, he can still get you involved. I still have his WhatsApp, and he still posts in his status about missing his ex-girlfriend from time to time. No wonder his girlfriend hates you so much. In actuality, he doesn't miss you much. He just wants his current girlfriend to feel insecure.”

“Thank goodness I only have one ex-boyfriend. Having more is a terrible thing. Since Tobias had cut off Jeremy's resources, I'm sure Jeremy must also hate me, right?” Skylar said self-deprecatingly.

No matter how much I did for Jeremy in the past, he and his family will never know how to be grateful.

Penelope remarked after listening to Skylar's analysis, “Not bad! You've become wise. You must've watched a lot of self-help programs and grown a brain.”
