Chapter 1190

Later on, Estelle and Manley were sitting in the car.

Manley didn’t start the car right away but turned his head to look at Estelle and grinned, “Are you mad?”

Estelle looked down and said, “No, as long as you’re happy.”

“Oh, you’re being so nice to me? You even pissed off Jonathan for my sake. Seems like I’m more important to you than he is!” Manley chuckled.

Estelle’s eyes showed no emotion. “Can we drop this topic now?”

Manley held her shoulders, forcing her to look at him. “Don’t be mad; it’s just this once. I probably won’t be able to piss off Jonathan like this again.”

Estelle just stared at him silently and said, “Aren’t you being a bit childish here?”

“I don’t know what did Jonathan give to my father to make him conspire with him and ship me abroad? I felt so wronged. I can’t let Jonathan have it easy.” Manley laughed, saying, “I’m the kind of guy who holds grudges. Nobody but you can mess with me.”

Estelle sighed. “So, you came back just to get on Jonathan’s nerves?”

“Of course not; my main reason for coming back was because I missed you. Pissing off Jonathan was just a bonus.” Manley’s smile faded, and his gaze turned serious. “He’s made you go through so much. I can’t just hand you back to him like this; I won’t stand for it.”

Estelle was taken aback, her throat tightening. “Manley!”

“I know you’ll eventually go back to him, but can it not be so soon? I’m afraid if he gets you back so easily, he’ll take you for granted again.” Estelle looked at him, a bitter taste lingering in her mouth, unsure of how to respond.

“Dummy!” Manley lifted his hand to pat her head, his eyes filled with reluctance and affection. “It’s fine; being friends is good too. Friends are forever, unlike your relation with Jonathan.”

Estellé nodded firmly. “Then let’s be friends for life!”

“But you have to promise me that even if you and Jonathan make up, you can’t cut me off.” Manley said.

Estelle’s eyes were clear, and she slowly smiled, “Of course!”

Perhaps the feelings that had just started to warm up had suddenly cooled down again.

Thinking of his dark and hateful expression in the garden, Estelle felt fear. The food she had eaten seemed to be stuck in her chest.

When they got back to Sunset Ridge, it was already 10 o’clock at night. Before Estelle got out of the car, Manley-gripped her hand tightly, his face smiling but his eyes extremely serious. “I’m leaving tomorrow, but even if I’m not here, you can’t go looking for Jonathan, and you can’t explain anything to him.”

Estelle frowned. “When will your joke end?”

“I don’t care, you have to promise me!” Manley insisted, “I was tricked by him; you have to help me get back at him; you have to stand with me.”

Estelle looked rather helpless and said, “Alright, I’ll stand with you.”

Only then did Manley smile and say, “Say hi to Emily and Kya for me. I’ve sent Kya a gift; it’ll arrive in a few days. Remind her not to forget me.”
