Chapter 1258
His warm breath brushed her face gently, making her feel a kind of numbingly warm. Blinking, Estelle tilted her head up to look at him, “Weekend.” “Is both days of the weekend okay?” he asked.
Eyes wide, Estelle exclaimed, “Yes!”
Jonathan smiled and said with satisfaction, “Alright, I can wait!”
Estelle felt her heart soften, but strived to keep her cool, “then I’ll go back to bed.”
“OK, he replied.
Reluctantly, Jonathan let go of her, allowing her to leave. As she entered the room across from his, he too, turned to return to his own home. His computer screen suddenly lit up, a program named Dragon popping up, “Good evening!”
Gripping the doorknob, Jonathan warned, “No peeping at our intimate moments!”
Dragon quickly covered its eyes, cheerfully responding, “I wouldn’t dream of it! I will automatically block your private moments.” Jonathan nodded, “I’ll get you upgraded to the highest level.”
“Thank you!” Dragon jumped in excitement.
When Jonathan was about to enter his house, Dragon suddenly asked him, “Mr. Lamont, why did-you tell Estelle that I was on a trip?”
Jonathan smirked, “She might feel awkward. She needs some time to get used to this.”
Dragon didn’t quite understand the complexities of human emotions and merely bobbed its head in vague comprehension.
“If I need you, I’ll call you,” Jonathan said, closing the door behind him.
Downstairs, Emily was anxiously pacing the living room for ten minutes before she couldn’t wait any longer and decided to check on Charlie.
When she tentatively opened the door, she was taken aback at the sight of them both asleep. Under the warm lighting, Charlie and Kya were peacefully snoozing, facing each other. Kya’s hand still clutched Charlie’s sleeve while he was sound asleep on his side. The tender sight made Emily unwilling to disturb them.
She stood there for three minutes before finally approaching them, softly calling, “Mr. James?”
“Mr. James!”
“Charlie!”
“What time is it?” asked Charlie.
Emily glanced at the clock on the bedside table, “Almost ten!”
Charlie was surprised. It was only ten. It must’ve been the alcohol that made him fall asleep so early.
Having been woken from a deep sleep after drinking, he felt a little groggy. He glanced back and then stood up and walked out.
Seeing his face was a bit off, Emily asked, “Do you need something to help sober up?”
“No need,” Charlie slumped on the sofa, “Just get me a bottle of ice water.”
Emily wanted to tell him that drinking cold water after alcohol isn’t good for his health, but she held her tongue and obediently went into the kitchen to fetch him a bottle of ice water.
Charlie uncapped the bottle and took a sip, and it made him feel somewhat sober.
