Emily’s heartbeat seemed to have missed a beat. After a long pause, she asked in a low voice, “Are you still drunk?”.

Charlie let out a soft chuckle. His forehead was leaning against her temple. The pose seemed tender, but his voice was icy cold, “I think about you all the time. Whenever another woman approaches me, I think of you.”

In the darkness, Emily’s eyes widened. Her heart was pounding hard, but she felt she might have misunderstood him because his tone was off.

Just as she suspected, he spoke again, this time full of rage. “I actually lost interest in women. It’s all your fault. You pushed me towards Noreen! Do you know how disgusted I am? I’m so disgusted that I don’t want to touch any woman ever again!”

Emily held her breath.

Charlie’s voice was as cold as ice, “Emily, do you think it’s my body that has a problem or is it my mind?”

Emily looked at him with surprise. Her first thought was, would Charlie want to kill her after he sobered up for telling her such a big secret while drunk? She was so scared that she replied, “You can go see a doctor or maybe a therapist.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than she felt his breath become heavy. She immediately shut up.

As she expected, Charlie got angry. He sat up slightly, reached out, and gripped her chin, staring at her coldly in the dark, “You’re not even willing to make it up to me. Instead you’want me to see doctor. Do you want to make me a laughingstock of everyone in J City?”

Emily was in a panic, but she was unable to move. All she could say was, “I didn’t mean that.”

Charlie sneered, “Then how do you plan to make it up to me?”

Emily looked up at him, feeling estranged and scared, “What do you want me to do?”

Charlie stared at her, his voice cold and suggestive, “I haven’t touched a woman in two years. What do you think?”

Suddenly sensing danger, Emily instinctively began to struggle.

Her struggle only fueled Charlie’s desire. He leaned over, bit into her lips, and kissed her fiercely.

Emily was stunned. She forgot to resist, forgot to breathe, and forgot everything around her.

Charlie wanted to punish her, but the moment he kissed her, his mind buzzed, and all his senses drowned in her sweetness.

Charlie suddenly stopped, his fingers gently stroking her eyes. His fingertips touched something wet. He suddenly sobered up. All his emotions disappeared in an instant, and his burning gaze turned cold again. He said in a deep voice, “You really don’t want to?”

She could bear Kya for other men, but she couldn’t make it up to him.

Emily was stunned, realizing she was crying.

Tears shimmered in her eyes, her lips swollen. She looked dazedly at Charlie.

A pang of pain hit Charlie deep inside. He stood up abruptly, looking down at her, his eyes cold and gloomy. Then he turned around and walked away with big strides.

Emily bit her lip hard, fixing her clothes, and curled up on her side. Tears fell down one after another, sliding down her face, sinking deep into the carpet.

Not long after, she heard the sound of the door closing.

Charlie was gone.
