Elliott gave off a look of guilt and said to Emily, “I’ll walk you out.”

Emily turned to leave, with Elliott following closely. Before they could step out, Gina gmbbed Elliott, whispering. “Don’t lose your cool, don’t piss off Bonnie. You guys just got hitched, after all.”

Elliott’s face hardened. He grunted in response before quickly catching up with Emily

As they walked out the door, Emily reached for the elevator button. Elliott looked at Emily’s frail figure, quilt washing over him.

Emily noticed Elliott’s troubled expression and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Elliott felt bitter but couldn’t voice his feelings. Instead, he instinctively said, “It’s nothing, probably I had too many drinks. Emily, you need to take care of yourself, call me if you need anything”

Emily smiled softly, “You’re a married man now, you should spend more time with Bonnie. I’ll drop by from time to time”

Elliott’s heart filled with bittemess. “This place will always be your home”

Emily lowered her head, chuckling lightly, and nodded, but didn’t say a word

The elevator arrived and Emily tumed to him, “Get some rest

“Sure,” Elliott watched as Emily entered the elevator, his gaze filled with longing and affection.

The elevator doors slowly closed, shutting out Emily’s beautiful face.

Elliott suddenly had a deep realization that growing up had cost them so much.

By the time Emily got home, it was already evening. She opened the door to find Charlie and Kya playing with toys on the balcony.

Charlie, wearing a dark blue shirt, was sitting on the floor. He was having a fun time patiently playing with Kya

Kya was even more delighted, her laughter echoing as soon as Emily stepped in.

“Im not busy!” Charlie cut her off, “Stop beating around the bush and go take a shower.”

“Alright, I’ll cook after I shower. What do you feel like eating? Emily’s eyes twinkled, her smile gentle.

“You’ve had a long day, don’t worry about cooking. Ive already ordered food; it’ll be here soon.”

Emily nodded, realizing he’d taken care of everything.

“You should call Jonah and invite them over too.”

“No need, Jonathan and Estelle have gone out.”

Charlie calmly responded, then returned to the balcony with Kya to continue their game. He reassured her, “Just take care of yourself, don’t push yourself too hard. I’ve got everything under control”
