Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 1994

Simone's smile stiffened on her lips, and with an awkward chuckle, she said, "What's wrong with KING?"

"Mrs. Macclain, KING is your own flesh and blood. Why did you issue such a statement?" Harriet frowned deeply. "Why did you have to lie and betray KING? Have you thought about how heartbroken she would be if she finds out that she was sold out by the very people she trusted most? "

Simone's face flushed with a mix of anger and embarrassment. "This is a family matter, Ms. Harriet, and I don't think it's any of your business."

"Mrs. Macclain, no matter what, KING is your biological daughter. Please, take down that announcement. Leave some room for you and Estelle to make amends. Consider this a personal plea from me!" Harriet said earnestly. "If there's ever anything I can do for you in the future, Mrs. Macclain, I won't hesitate to help, even if it costs me everything."

Simone was dismissive. "That's impossible. The announcement has been made!"

"But why?" Harriet pressed perplexedly. "Do you really hate Estelle that much? Do you hate her enough to ruin her?"

Simone's face was cold. "She didn't show us any mercy when she sided with outsiders against our family. If you want to know why things have come to this, you might as well ask her yourself!"

Seeing Simone's indifferent and resolute demeanor, Harriet felt her hope begin to fade.

"Is someone else pulling the strings? Did they offer you something to betray your own daughter? Name your price, and I'll double it!" Harriet scoffed.

"Ms. Harriet!" Simone snapped, looking visibly irritated. "I've told you, this is our family's issue. KING's just a business partner to your company. You have no right to question us on her behalf!"

"Estelle isn't in J City, and neither is Mr. Lamont. You picked the perfect time to strike at her, didn't you?" Harriet's voice was ice-cold with disillusionment. "I never would have guessed, and I bet Estelle wouldn't have either, that the most lethal blow would come from her own parents."

Simone's expression turned even uglier. "Ms. Harriet, I've always respected you, but if this is what you came here for, I'm sorry, you're not welcome in our home. Please leave!"
